According to TCI, Dan Radochit had 20 seats removed from the

press box in DV so that he could have a new Athletic Directors box built.
So now Mr. Ego has decided his staff should move into the WEZ, the third phase of construction should be halted and the award winning SID dept should be turned on it's head, and he should be given 20 seats worth of prime space that no AD before has ever needed.
IMO, we cannot afford to keep this guy. He is isolating many, many media people, coaches and donors. We will end up losing some good coaches if his tight fisted reign continues.

Delaying the WEZ to hopefully address basketball
Aug 15, 2013, 10:51 PM

has the football only crowd ticked. Once the new ACC TV network comes along, they fail to recognize that hoops will drive that things revenue. Duke vs Appy St on for a Saturday football tilt just won't cut it. We need to become competitive facility wise in hoops, it is important for future dollars coming in. And that's going to cost us substantial money. Not as important as football, but the ACC winning is the only thing that will increase dollars there

design and plan.
For D Rad to redistribute money that people gave to support this idea is just wrong. It breaks a trust.
Jim Baker did the exact same thing with PTL. He'd promise a new "western theme" division on his property, solicit donations, then divert that money to his hotel or the general fund.
D Rad did not do the baiting, but he certainly has done the switching. And that is wrong, no matter what sport you support.

die on the vine? Finances are limited. It clearly isn't illegal what he's doing, so, why the problem? We are very competitive football wise in facilities. Some are better, but not most. We are bottom rung basketball wise. The money must come from somewhere. These type financial decisions are exactly why he was hired

for the WEZ. But money given to Iptay or the AD can legally be used anywhere. Do most give because of football? Of course. But unless you simply want to field uncompetitive teams because we can't recruit in other major sports due to outdated facilities, you have to spend on them. That money must come from somewhere. The WEZ expansion has not been cancelled, simply delayed. We'll have more revenue coming in through media contracts shortly, it won't be a long delay. We can stomach it in football, we cannot in basketball. Everyone we play has better facilities.

be clear, we're not talking about general fund donations or donations to The Will to Lead et al.
even EEES tells you to designate location or it will be put in the general fund.
he's changed the calendar some to address a need. he also approved a huge capital investment to retro the wez facilities to keep pace with the jones. that was 'off calendar' also as well as the ipads.

We don't seem to be able to recruit great talent regardless of the coach. Tough to win when most ACC teams have better bench players than you do starters.

see I think CU did that w the indoor track which was billed as that and able to be used as indoor football facility. once built it suddenly could be used for football. If there is one thing I won't put up with it is bait and switch. Not from anyone.

size..but I'm pretty sure this about DRad's ego.
From what I have heard and read, he is more interested in pizzing off donors and changing the status quo, than actually forging new equitable benefits for the athletic dept.
I do know that there is a Presidents box and other amenities that have sufficed in the past for such relationships.
And I guarantee you this, CDS is getting his fill of DRad's dictorial style of governance. It may not end well.

much since the home side upper deck was built. Whole thing needs an update. Far less print media than there used to be. The old(current) AD box is on the TV/Radio level and is tiny. I'm assuming they'll be moving it down to the print level as the home coaches box is beside the current one

become 'comfortable'. i saw it first hand in a clemsoninsider report as one of their writers knee-jerked armageddon.
he's far from through. he's here to better the athletic department, not make you or a blog writer happy. i know that's going to frustrate some and i understand it will cause ripples in the clemson reflection pond.
i asked one question of david hood. i wondered if the advisory board headed up by harry frampton jr would continue. he has not been given a straight answer and feels it will not.
i imagine drad would have had a conversation with them directly, perhaps they'd be willing to comment?

Depends: Would the space be better served....
Aug 16, 2013, 7:16 AM

...in giving fewer papers (or media outlets, since papers are fewer these days) more elbow room? Or would it be better served in having more space to woo potential big hitters who feasibly could add to the athletic coffers of Clemson?
If I'm the AD, I know which way I'm leaning.
Rather than look at this as an ego grab, perhaps it can be seen as an opportunity to improve the larger financial picture for Clemson. And let's face it, since non of us have hit the Powerball lately, the AD has to work harder to keep funds flowing in.
Unless it can be shown that losing the space cripples coverage ... and given the amount of space there was up there, I'm dubious of that ... I'll side with getting Clemson more money. Even if it appears to be an ego trip, if the ego serves Clemson, more power to it.

This is just another chance for the high school boys to say something negative about Clemson. I, for one, think its a good thing that our athletic department isn't managed by a tenth grader! If you want to see the Tigers succeed at a very high level, athletically and academically, then give, give, give and biitcch less!!!!!!!
