Full size truck advice needed..

Looking for used full size truck for me, that son can take over in a few years when he's 16. Will not really be a work truck, and dont necessarily need 4x4.

Was dead set on a Tundra, but we went and drove a bunch. Did not like the Ram, F150 or Titan.

Then, drove a GMC Sierra. Holy smokes what a nice ride, and better mpg than Tundra.

I know that Tundra engine is bulletproof.
Any red flags with a Sierra or comparable Chevy?

Thanks in advance.

Best vehicle I have ever owned. 233k miles so far. A young driver can ruin any truck in no time, though.

You aren't going to work with it and don't need 4x4?

Are you only going to haul some groceries? Or do you mean you will be hauling stuff just not for work?
Eh, either way get what you want, just wanted to get those questions out of the way.

The GMC I have is not what you are looking for, I have to keep reminding myself I've had more than a year.

There are plenty of reports that aren't great for GM trucks, especially if they have that fuel management crap, but it seems every truck but the Tacoma has red flags.

I own a 2000 Tundra, so my experience is limited but I know folks with newer

Toyotas, Fords, RAMs, Chevys, and GMCs. Don't know any Titan owners and really don't notice that many of them on the road if that means anything. I think most of the large truck segment are at least decent vehicles and should last a long time with maintenance so it's really going to boil down to what you like and feel comfortable driving. Truck fans are like college football team fans...gonna be a lot of argumentative analysis over brands but in the grand scheme you probably will be OK with anything you get. Consumer Reports has always been my bible for vehicles, and without looking I'd bet Toyota is the highest ranked, Titan the lowest, and probably none of them put up a huge red flag that says do not buy. You'll be happy whichever way you decide to go.

Unless you get the complete lemon that Ted Bob had the worst hangover of his life the day he showed up at the factory to build it, of course.

The new Tundra motors have had some issues, if you're looking at

older ones with a V8 they should be bullet proof. GM 5.3 can give you nightmares, seems to be hit or miss with them.

You still trying to sell that?

You must not have advertised it anywhere.

I had a boat like that once that I was "trying to sell"---for about 4 years. Then one day I put an ad on craiglist, and some mf-er came and gave me exactly what I was asking for it.

Dammm that guy.

Nextdoor and FB too, but those haven't generated a peep. Don't know what the heck is up. 80% of the "leads" from Cars.com are non-responders to email, and I don't do text until they show up.

I'm exactly in a huge rush to sell it, but I'm ready for it to be gone.

I would srsly have thought it would take about 15 minutes to sell at that price range.

There's always a Messican looking for a work truck.

Every park it somewhere that gets a lot of traffic with a for sale sign and a price on it?

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Heck, I'd prob buy it if I needed to start driving a lot for whatever

reason again. I'd just sell my truck, buy your truck and a car to get good gas mileage.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Right?

It's a good truck, no major issues, and good luck finding a two-owner with low miles. I'm just waiting for my craigslist guy. Well. My other craigslist guy.

I dunno how you can't like the ram.

Better interior, rides better, and sounds better than anything else being sold. Looks are subjective, but best in class transmission and towing specs aren't.

IMO, a 2-3 year old one is a steal. You can get a VERY well equipped one for <$40K with <30K miles. No payments make them drive better, IMO. I bought one used a year and 5 months ago, and it's been a great truck so far. The closest dealer sucks dogbawls (Hendrick...what did I expect), and changing the oil makes a Deepwater Horizon in the driveway style mess, but that's about it.

There is a reason ford f150 has been the best selling truck for over a decade. Do not buy until you drive an F-150
