Watch NBA playoffs, although of course the hospital doesn’t have NBA tv so I can’t watch the grizzlies game. Hawks making a run though.

I’ve got a lidocaine and ketamine iv drip, then tramadol
Apr 19, 2022, 9:58 PM

(If that’s how you spell it) pills every 5 hours or so. Nothing good, can’t have narcotics because I’ve got to get my digestive system moving. Quite frankly, I’m not sure how much good they’ve done, if anything the tramadol dulls the pain and makes it not as noticeable that I’ve got a tube in my tummy and my colon stapled together.

I’ve got a stash of the good stuff at home from my first visit to the ER, look forward to breaking into that and sitting in the recliner for a few days.

Stainless steel for the staples, they’ll be rusted by end of the year if so. My understanding is they left it to make sure my bladder wasn’t still leaky and as a precaution. Looking forward to it coming out in the morning, although I’m sure that will suck too.

Maybe coincidence, but I just had a Foley Catheter removed

yesterday. Long story, but I ended up in the ER on Sat night... could not poop nor pee. Extreme pain, 11 on a scale of 1-10. They drained 1.5 liter of p*ss out of my bladder via catheter and sent me home with a leg bag over the weekend. Saw my Urologist yesterday who removed it. Thank god, I could not tolerate that thing. Leaving tomorrow on a vacation to W Palm Beach, with tix to see The Who & Van Morrison. So far so good, I'm peeing and pooping like normal. No clue what happened to create the blockage...
I always knew we we were blood brothers, this pretty much cements it. Ts & Ps my good man...

until just a couple years ago. Never got sick, never went to the doctor, laughed at other folks and thought they were wimps, etc. I was Superman until I hit 60, and now some chit is breaking down... like an old car. Your time is coming... you just wait.

Very few days go by that I don’t realize I’m closer to 60 than I am to 30.

Mine was diverticulitis that got into my bladder

First and most obvious symptoms were painful/difficult urination….May want to have a scan to see what’s going on. From what I understand if I had caught it earlier I could have avoided all of this.
May you never have to have a catheter again, I feel your pain my man. Hopefully you’ll be good to go.

are some strong and nasty antibiotics. Been there done that a couple times now. Horrible side effects, at least for me. Loss of appetite, nausea, feel like crap, etc. I usually lose about 10 lbs over 2 weeks on that crap. I still drank a little despite the warnings, because alcoholic...
