Why? Could it say more about the democrat party than many of us care to realize?
Black vote more than doubled for Trump from 2016 to 2024. (6% to 15%)
The Hispanic vote increased from 36% in 2020 to 48% in 2024.
46% of women voted for Trump in 2024 vs 44% in 2020.
I’m wanting opinions why America chose a deeply flawed person. But, let’s not go race since it’s clear he picked up minority voters from 2016 and 2020.
I’ll hang up and listen.

The average person doesn’t have the capacity to understand the economy. They saw high prices and blamed Biden.
It’s the same reason Republicans will get dismantled this upcoming election.

-It's not enough to just have abortion, it needs to be legal up to the 3rd birthday. -There is no limit on worldwide welfare, no matter how broke we are. -Not enough to have SNAP and Medicaid, but abled bodied men in their 20's should get it. -Not only to you have to bow before trannys, you have to let them mentor your children. -Not only should you accept a weak border, but you have to cheer on a completely absent one. -The only way to make America great is to make it communist or socialist; no other options. -You have to support books about bttfkn in Kindergarten libraries or you are a "book burning" evangelical.
I never thought for a second that Fetterman would be the "normal" democrat.

the mats to have age-inappropriate stuff in school libraries - and then scream "book burners!"
He's right about the border.
I have no problem with men dressed up as women reading books to kids - as long as their parents are ok with it. But I wouldn't defend to the death their right to do it. Just seemed like an odd hill to die on.
The point was the Dems took left-leaning positions and then leaned too far.

I remember when people on this very board claimed dems would win 2024 based solely on the fact that roe vs wade was over turned.,
What happened to that argument?

But my guess would be that after Roe was overturned, a lot of states passed their own acceptable legislation, without realizing there are other ways this administration hopes to ban abortions nationwide (banning access to abortion pills). I think it was a lot of, “well my state protected abortions, we are good” mindset. That and time. People have the memory of a goldfish, and all the abortion stuff happened well before the election.

I think its those 34 felonies, that any normal person could easily see were fabricated to "get" Trump, that made him more relatable and even a bit of a sympathetic (believe it or not) figure to people that had never voted for him before. Nobody of any political persuasion should be cheerleading the legal gymnastics required to get those glorious convictions the left felt certain would finally destroy Trump forever, yet one political party embraced them unapologetically. And when that didn't work they tried throwing him off ballots, etc which only strengthened his appeal to those same people.

Is there anything that clown does that magats will not say is a hoax or false? Theres NO way he did anything illegal. There’s NO way he lost in 2020. He’s just a good honest man but everyone is just “out” to get him. Have you ever considered that he’s just a creep? 🙄

They propped up Sleepy Joe for no reason instead of letting in competition, and then they selected Kamala to replace him without any vote by their constituency. The Democratic leadership has become elitist and distant, which has turned off independents as well as some in their own party.
With that sort of dysfunction, even a criminal grifter can beat them.

He lost to a man that was removed for being incompetent which is hilarious if you think about it.

Yes, Dems haven't had anything compelling to offer, and are totally out of step with 1/2 of the country. That's a big part of it.
Then, Trump has successfully tapped into and exploited the very natural fear and angst felt by that half of the country.

"The ludicrous end of democracy as we know it?" Do you really not recognize that we are currently living in a de facto dictatorship where one man is making ALL the decisions? What lesser politicians must adhere to if they don't want to doxxed and driven out of the party. Senators and Representatives have said they fear for their safety if they disagree with the President. What is permissible to be taught in schools and universities. What media companies can broadcast, if they don't want to be sued. Who the Justice Department prosecutes. Who law companies can represent without being punished by the government. Who it's okay to mourn or ridicule. What constitutes antisemitism. The list goes on and on. This is your idea of democracy?

One man decides foreign policy One man decides tariff policy. One man makes executive decisions on whatever catches his fancy every day because, you know, it's an emergency. But that's not a dictatorship and it's okay because there will be elections next year and in '28. and the Republican winnowing of eligible voters and the troops patrolling polling places won't have any effect. I sure hope you're right.

Because Biden/Kamala...

was the absolute worst, most dishonest, and corrupt administration in US history, and their countless failed policies, weaponizing the judicial system against political adversaries, and allowing millions of undocumented illegal immigrants to flood across the border, with the full support of congressional democrats and their pals in the mainstream liberal media, nearly ruined the country, and American voters were clearly sick of it!
Do I agree with everything Trump says or does? Absolutely not, but he has accomplished more for this country in the last eight months than Biden or Kamala have in their entire political careers.
Just my .02 cents.

Inflation....
Sep 15, 2025, 11:04 AM
|
|
The election turned on inflation.
Never mind that it was a supply-shock from the pandemic that drove it - not Biden's policies - on a worldwide basis. Also, never mind that the US weathered the shock and inflation came down to just slightly above the Fed's target during 2024, while at the same time have a very strong jobs recovery & performance after the pandemic.
Also, the broader public had memory-holed January 6 and Trump's disastrous performance during the pandemic. Trump didn't pay a price for that in 2024.
I think in 2026, the Dems will likely re-take the House, as part of the usual backlash against the incumbent party. It will be tougher to re-take the Senate. But MAGA's performance currently is helping the Dems in the Senate, too.
