Automatic high ranking, usually over ratedd. Unfair bowl favorability, and unjustifiable media coverage. All that and they are a bunch of rosary rattling servants of the antichrist.

..didn't Devine actually write a letter to Pell about Clemson's fans? The week prior ND had a run in with the GT fans who threw fish on the field. Pell said "..*nobody* is going to intimidate our fans...".....

I was at that game in 77..I remember Ross Browner....

..I think he was a big DL for ND..think maybe he got a personal foul called on him. I sat on the hill, screaming my behind off, and then later that night saw "Slapshot" at the theater in Clemson (if my memory is correct)...

One of those "America's team" that u love or hate...like the Yankees and cowboys. Also, the fact they are a catholic school and most of the south despises catholicism for what they think it is.

Their reputation has often been built on playing the Pentagon teams with limited recruiting and overrated Big Ten teams every year, They seem to play 80% of their games at home. They seem to get every call that could go both ways on the field(and some that should have definitely gone the other way when they play). And the NCAA licks their rear-ends and seems to ignore their major infractions(ie. the paid players and free trips to Vegas funneled to players through the President of the ND touchdown club's secretary who supposedly stole a million dollars to spend on players without getting caught for years when Holtz was there).

I have been a Clemson fan my whole life and it started when my uncle played defensive end in the early 70's and I was going with my parents at the age of 3 and 4 to all the games. I say that to state my loyality and love of the Tigers before I say:
I have pulled for ND all of my life as well. The Tony Rice years were really big since I followed him at Woodruff. I played at Greenwood the same time and his feats on the field were crazy for that time before the run and gun and high school had mobile QB's. ND is good this year - really good and luck has nothing to do with them other than the "Luck of the Irish" which goes back well before ND. People hate them because they are big engough of an influence due to their fan base to garner their own TV contract and command special treatment in the BCS. If Clemson could do the same they would and anyone that says different is drinking to much of the koolaid. They will come fully into the ACC in the next few years as the playoff system shapes up and more demand is made on adding teams to the mix. I also realize this is about as pointless as trying to convince an Obama supporter that he is bad for the country so I will exit stage right........

The NCAA caters to them. They get special bcs/bowl invites. A 10-2 nd would get bcs over 11-1 Clemson. NCAA should make them join a conference and split the money.
They also played here in 70s. They tried to get a NCAA rule passed to penalize for crowd noise cause Death Valley was known as being loud. Their coach also flipped off all the Clemson fans.
