I'm reading many of the complaints on here about Fan Appreciation Day, and I understand the disappointment of those who took their little ones and walked away with nothing but tired legs. But while I sympathize with you, ultimately we have to recognize that this wasn't personal.

Clemson is climbing the ladder in terms of national recognition, and I think it's a little unfair to show up to an event of a preseason Top 10 team at 1 or 2 in the afternoon and expect it to be run as if Clemson were a 5 or 6-win team. Because of our program's success, students have had to adjust how to obtain tickets to big games, and IPTAY members have had to adjust their giving to receive season tickets. It's the fan base's responsiblity to adjust when it comes to the expectations of these events as well.

Clemson wasn't trying to irritate anybody and they certainly weren't targeting you. They did what they could to accommodate as many fans as they could. Just take this as a lesson in following a team on the rise and move on. It's either that or follow a less-popular team.

Getting frustrated over your kids not getting their wish is completely justified. But to sling insults at the athletic department isn't. Clemson simply cannot afford to conduct business as usual when we have two Heisman hopefuls on a team that is experiencing one of the best runs in program history.

Since Tommy called Saban for coaching advice, can Tommy Bowden call Saban and ask how they handle Fan Day? Bama doesn't seem to have these pains, and they have way more in attendance than we do.
