I strongly believe that Dabo will give in and use the transfer portal this off-season. I think he’s feeling the heat even though he is stubborn and opinionated about the current landscape of college football. I believe he knows that he has to get with it or Clemson will be in a deficit that could set the program back in a big way.
I love Clemson and like Dabo so no hate here.

Don't think he will have a choice....meaning his superiors will tell him to find a model that works for his program but transfers will be a part of it.
Unless somehow he backdoor his way in the playoffs and win a game of two.

You're likely correct, since evidence is mounting that the program is not quite where it needs to be.
He may also have to pay up front to get what he wants or needs through the portal.
If and when it happens, just be prepared that there's a good chance of discontent within the locker room. Dabo has been preaching his belief about NIL and the portal too long and has attracted players who agree with it, so an abrubt change of culture will take some time to accept.

If I were a player, rings > money. I get that’s not a shared concept in today’s game though.

Rings are not guaranteed, money is. Portal players are looking to get paid, not ring chasing. The ones not chasing money are looking for playing time because they aren't getting it where they are, and I doubt they could come in and contribute/start at Clemson.

I agree that using the portal for a couple of players is not much of a culture change, but paying upfront NIL certainly would be and could cause huge problems.

I’m sure continuing to not have a chance to play for championships will also affect the locker room. I don’t think he really goes to the portal. I think he’ll revise his recruiting strategy. I guess we’ll see though. Something has to change.

I agree 100%. But it’s either that or pay and play in the portal. I think he’ll go with paying high school players first - or he’ll have to call it a career. He has no choice. It’s one or the other. You can’t win without talent.

IMO if you use the transfer portal there is only discontent in the locker room if you losing. If you winning and in contention for the playoffs the locker room will be fine. I played some sports and it is about winning.

I can see it going a few ways:
1) Most dangerous course of action (I do not want this to happen). After his youngest graduates, he is unhappy with the direction of college football and steps away.
2) Most likely course of action (I think this will happen) He continues the status quo and he is correct that the school paying players will level out the NIL auction that goes on and we get some sort of contract if players sign NIL tying them to the school.
3) His son is an offensive analyst with the WRs.... curve balls could be to groom the former players on his coaching staff to end up as coordinators and eventual coaches with him becoming the AD kind of like Tom Osborne did at Nebraska (which is not a good example considering how that played out).
Bottom line.... the game vs Louisville after a bye is inexcusable. Things are not as bad as they seem. This team will surprise us this year, and they probably will disappoint us as well. Looking like a mid-tier bowl game with a 8-5 to 10-3 record I think is the range. Let's see how it plays out.
Nothing lasts forever, and regardless what happens this year, I will never forget seeing Clemson win a Natty in Tampa. We had one heck of a run and just thankful I got to see it.

I agree and i also watched us win a natty in tampa and another in San Fran, trouble is things are that bad, this is not a 1 game deal, it has been the normal result each time we play a team with a winning record . The lack of coaching saturday nite was alarming .Dabo has got to change enough to keep us competitve and hire some qualified assistants or he needs to step away. I will always appreciate what he brought but in the here and now, we are getting left futher and further behind.

The schools not the NCAA have the right to force contracts on anyone based on their private business deals with other entities.
That's why there are no such contracts.
Without a Congressional antitrust exe option, there aren't going to be any.

I agree with this. By using the transfer portal at this point, he is admitting that he was wrong and to blame for the downfall. I don't see him ever doing that.
He'd rather go about doing it his way, even though it hurts the program. He is daring CLemson to fire him. Payout $$$

That's sad, but his stubbornness and refusal to adapt is hurting the football program.
"All in" should include being 100% committed to using every tool in the toolbox to keep the team elite. That is just happening, unfortunately.

Clemson will have plenty of revenue sharing money to throw around. I believe that will help our recruiting, but we will certainly need to do something on the defensive side of the ball to offset our horrible run defense.

I believe Dabo will hang it up very very soon. Clay is a redshirt sophomore- which means he could graduate at anytime based on these players going to school year round. Once he graduates- he hangs it up. That’s my prediction.

you also have to be willing to use NIL effectively. Dabo has not been too keen on either of those things which is likely one of the reasons we've lost so many commitments to other programs.

He's made his point, but I think he will realize the game is over when he can no longer get the top-tier HS recruits. He needs better depth and the portal is how the top teams top off their rosters. If he opens the door, Clemson has a top-tier reputation so he will land some big time transfers

Even if he finally has a change of heart on the portal, the challenge will still be getting players to want to come to Clemson. It is going to be hard for them to forget that Dabo said none of them are good enough to start at Clemson, among many other things.
It will take time to "unring" that bell and get players to give us a chance.

I think it's too late. Dabo has been very vocal and public about his dislike of NIL and the Portal. It's made him poison to recruits. If he backtracked, not only would that be admitting he was wrong (which he would never do), but he would be slammed by every single pundit telling him that they told him so. Clemson would suffer under that negative publicity with top recruits. I think the only way to deal with the NIL and the Portal is to make a clean break.

Agreed. Dabo is going to do his best to have it his way but I believe his hand will be forced. I know lots of kids in the portal probably arent good enough to start at CU but there are a few out there that could make a difference. Think Isaiah Bond type dudes.

Won't matter, we are behind the 8 ball and don't have the sheer number of donors to play catch up at this time. If every team is allotted the so called 22 mil for nil, there are teams that have donors that can double that. By playing the long game we may have buried ourselves in averageness! Is that a word? If not I invented it!

I'm not convinced because that would require forcing players out. We have a few that make sense.
WR: Noble Johnson
RB: Jarvis Green
DE: Zaire Patterson
DT: Caden Story
LB: Kobe McCloud
DB: Myles Oliver
These are all non-factors for us. All of them play positions that we will lose at least one starter at. Dabo could force them all out and bring in players from the portal to replace them.
But, he's not going to. And I'm not so sure many Clemson fans would even want that.

Let’s be honest, he doesn’t just need to use the portal, he’s going to need to do what he really doesn’t want to do to get impact players, and that is tamper. Not for everyone, some are just going to be quality depth, but if he wants guys that are going to come in a start, he said himself those guys are locked up before entering the portal.
