What did Dabo mean when he said yesterday--

"We are not going to win the National Championship. We have only won 3 out of them out of 133 years." What? I love Coach but why make a comment like that?

People complain when Dabo says we will be the first team to go 16-0.
People complain when his team is 1-3 and he says we won’t win the NC this year.
People complain.
What do fans want him to say? We are 1-3, but still squarely in the hunt for another NC?

Correct.
They will always complain.
I think it makes them feel smart…or like tough guys who know a lot about football.
It’s weird.
Or maybe they haven’t figured out that ultimately this is just entertainment.
So either be entertained, or go away.

You’re probably right.
I’m not entertained by it, and will possibly choose not to watch it this year.
I only recognize one or two of the players anyway.

Agree Francis. It would take us winning our last 6 conference games and about 15 miracles happening for us to get into the ACC Championship and winning to make the Playoffs so I would say Dabo is not about no National Championship this year.

So if you give up on a season because you're not gonna win a natty then you probably don't enjoy many football seasons. That's what I took him to mean.

I think he was saying we have to have realistic expectations when it comes to Nattys. Heck, there are only 3 active coaches now who have even won one.

Excited about the season. We are building a team here that's probably about an 8-4 or 9-3 team. That's pretty typical for your solid college football team.
Football is tough to predict, but we've got a competitive team. With some good bounces, we're a playoff team. We are good enough to make a run. With some bad bounces, we're a 4 win team. We're not good enough to play bad and win.
That way he covers all bases and makes everyone happy!!

He meant what he said. Clemson isnt winning the natty this year. They also aren't winning it in the foreseeable future without serious changes.

I would of said just because you might not compete for a Natty, doesn't mean you don't have a lot to play for. Don't have to go on how many in how many years...

The only original goal left is win the state. That is up for debate if we will even have a chance at winning. The only thing other than the state is playing for pride at this point. But I haven't seen many players out there playing with pride.
