Travis Etienne Pass Catching

The only questions about Travis was could he be an "every down back"! I think he increased his draft stock a great deal tonight. He showed really good hands and threw some good blocks in pass pro!
Just when I thought I could not be more impressed by TE9.

The way he split defenders and broke tackles after the catches was impressive!

For a kid that played in a Wishbone slash Double Wing offense he catches it well. He learned the splitting tacklers and running through tackles running his H.S. offense.
He is the best player we have ever recruited from Jennings, Louisiana!
LSU only lightly recruited him. They offered but were way higher on other prospects - he signed with T A&M as a better opportunity. Until a contender ( Clemson ) came along and put our collective arms around him late in the process. The rest is history!
I'm thinking he will be extra motivated to play LSU!

Those TD receptions show Travis can be a big asset to an NFL team without 20 carries/game. Tonight proved he must embrace pass catching to max out his career.

Credit to hard work by ETN and Tony Elliott!
I agree. Remember the U of No-Compliance game. He took it upon himself to put in the work and it is paying off. I am sure Trevor appreciates it as w/o some of his pass-pro he does not get the ball off. A very under - valued aspect of a RB game is pass pro. Everyone see's the QB get it down field - but it wouldn't happen if he wasn't given enough time! Good call out about Coach Elliott helping him advance his skill set as well!

Those were three game saving touchdowns, explosive and impressive against a great defensive team filled with athletic disciplined players who will all be playing on Sunday.
For many of those guys, they may be on the wrong side of TE9 TD’s for years to come.

Sproles just retired ... there's a place

for quick backs with good hands and high top-end speed.
Sproles also got to the NFL by being an every-down back in college but didn't have the body for it in the NFL. But speed kills and when teams figured out how to use him, he made a great career out of it.
Here are his stats at Kansas State:
Year Games Attempts Yards YPA TDs
2001 6 28 210 7.5 1 2002 13 237 1,465 6.2 17 2003 15 306 1,986 6.5 16 2004 11 244 1,318 5.4 11

Sproles is a pretty good comparison. ETN is bigger, faster, but less shifty.

I used to cringe when we tossed him easy balls in the flats. You can tell he’s put in the work.

Me too! I was a bit on the TF we need his hands out the backfield wagon. But, I give credit where it's due. Travis was always the better runner and now he shows he has nice soft hands as well. I feel he is going to be an amazing pro.
I think he compares to old Kansas City Chiefs #31 Priest Holmes well.

I thought Dobbins had a heck of a game. I don’t know how he played on his ankle, but he did. Thank goodness he had a little butterfinger at the end, when it mattered the most.
On heck of a game by the Tigers.
