It's becoming clear that Gus Malzahn is simply riding

Gene Chizik's coat tails. What has he done since taking over?
Year 1: Rode Chizik's roster all the way to the NCG, where he was promptly embarrassed by an ACC team. Year 2: Wilted down the stretch, eventually losing to Wisonsin, to go 8-5. Year 3: Managed to get by a talented and underrated Louisville team, only to escape in OT against Jacksonville State, and get blown out by LSU.
Looks like Gene was the brains of that operation after all.

Francis: Awburn is a perfect example of what happens when you don't have a quality QB! If Gus baby is so smart he would have seen that Johnson ain't the answer!

Disagree. Here's why...
Sep 21, 2015, 2:02 PM
|

1) Gus has never won a NC without Gene. 2) Cam never won a NC (or Super Bowl) without Gene.
Gene is the common denominator.

and doesn't prove anything at all. Because Auburn only won 1 NC, there can be no "common denominator." Literally everyone on the 2010 Auburn team is a common denominator.
I have to do to put that theory on it's head it use the inverse of each:
1)Chizik never won a NC without Newton.
2)Chizik never won a NC without Malzahn.
Or how about this:
1)Chizik never won a NC without Nick Fairley.

The QB is a running threat. I don't think Johnson is the kind of elusive runner as our former CB Marshall or their former Gator QB Cam Newton.
Marshall was a great runner 10/10 and serviceable passer 6/10. Cam was 10/10 on both counts. Johnson is 3/10 runner and 5/10 passer.

UNC has an easy schedule until Georgia Tech, so the jury is still out...however, their defense looks to be much improved over last year. Chizik is not a head coach, but he has done a decent job as a defensive coordinator....even during his years at Auburn----and I have had to watch many Auburn games as my wife is die-hard fan---the defense wasn't as bad as it looks now. The defense has taken a big step backwards under Muschump.

When they won the BCS in 2010, they had by far the worst defense of any of the BCS era national champions. It's interesting to research. Practically every BCS national champion had an above average defense, usually top 25. Auburn's was very mediocre in 2010.

Chizik was fired? They went 3-9 on the season and 0-8 in the SEC. They ended their season with a 49-0 loss to Alabama. It was the lowest point for Auburn football in well over 50 years.

No one is positive what the RAG really is.
Sep 28, 2015, 7:36 AM
|
|
RAG stands for "Reach Ar__nd Gang", that much we know. So named because of the points some feel they give each other. In reality, the RAG is probably one of two things.
1) An actual group of posters who work together to make funny/sarcastic posts. They then give each other points for these posts.
2) A label used for a certain type of poster who makes funny/sarcastic posts. The same principle applies to "pumper" vs "dumper". There is no actual pumper or dumper gang, rather these are just labels for a particular posting style.
Several Tnetters have claimed to have a list of RAG members, but to date, no list believed to be accurate has ever been produced. This reinforces the theory that there is no actual gang.

Didn't one of their bigger "boosters" go to jail for tax evasion or something in the last few years? Might not be able to "recruit" quite as well while he is in the pen.
