UGA is in the SEC (Seems Everybody's Cheating). Is there any news in this press release?

This isn't a very good article. Crowell invited former uga players to his announcement and none of them knew it was a violation.

Is the rule only applicable if the kid chooses that school?

Lattimore had Stephen Davis at his announcement and it was between AU and SC?

Believe it or not, players are supposed to know the rules, too. Still, it is up to the recruiters and especially the coaches, to know them and to see to it that there is compliance. They knew this was a violation. Don't doubt that at all.

he can't make calls, but recruits can call him...so no big deal. They either call him on their own or an asst. coach tells the recruit to call the head coach.

It's better to ask for forgiveness than permission.

NCAA is the biggest effing joke in all of collegiate sports. What is it they do besides collect the big bucks. I know one thing they do very well. They tell teams that they have broken the rules. Now just who is it that imposes the punishment. If you're in the SEC, surely not the NCAA....

Its become obvious that Mark Richt, once criticized
Mar 15, 2011, 9:41 AM
|
|
(as Tommy Bowden was) for being "too moral" and "too religious" and "too principaled" and "too loyal" , is finally succumbing to pressure of the imminence of losing his multi-million dollar job.
UGa's had legal problems with the kids they've recruited the entire time Richt's been in Athens---seems now, Richt is going to do whatever has to be done to get top talent into UGa (not that he was doing all that badly) and, ala 'Bama, Auburn, etc, rules are just minor impediments best left to be judged in the public forum by UGa fans.
Just win baby. and if that involves cheating, so be it.
The SEC should just be disabanded as a rogue conference.

After thinking about this for a while....why do we care? Former recruits?

Well, I guess it's all better now since they gave themselves a slap on the wrist. Give me a break. This is nothing more than a little smoke screen to give the impression that they really care about rules (doesn't matter whether we think the rules are silly). I do not believe anybody knows how to cheat and get away with it mor than thebunchin Athens, andRicht came from FSU, hot off a free shoes incedent. He knows how to look the other way when he needs to.
