...who can find the flaws in everyone. Even Mother Teresa made some mistakes, right???
TDP was key not only in facilitating getting the right assets for football (physical and human), but also was key in getting the BB program up to ACC level for a while. I'll give him a lot more credit for Purnell and Bronwell and the current football staff, improved facilities, etc., than for a poor choice in prolonging the mediocrity with TB. He saw something no one else did that didn't actually materialize. It probably wasn't there.
But not everyone has the uncanny ability to make all the right choices, all the time. Perhaps you do?

TDP didn't do ****. He literally won like 4 conference championships in ALL of our sports in over a decade of competition. That is terrible. He was terrible at fundraising as well.
I'm glad he is gone.

Gee, I didn't realize TDP was coaching as well.....

By your measure I guess every school that doesn't win championships in all programs routinely has a really bad AD.
Never mind that he met the goals the school set with respect to NCAA academics and oversaw around $150 million in the facilities. All small stuff, right?

Gee,
As an athletic director you are responsible for your coaching hires. He is as much a part of the wins/losses as the head coach, quarterback, wr. He is a part of the program. Not detached from it.
And quit exaggerating my point. His clip of championships and the state of a lot of our programs is entirely on him. I think that he did some good things to get the facility train rolling, but that was it. I also think DRad is on another level in terms of getting things done compared to TDP.

...after all, they are a part of the hiring decisions.
I'm just highlighting that you are assigning responsibility to an AD that isn't all theirs to own and isn't all they are asked to do. Coaches are given the task to recruit players and win. That's why they fall when they don't meet the targets, however high or low they may be (in terms of winning).
The scope of what an AD does is bigger. Sure, TDP was slow to pull the trigger on TB, but he certainly has a number of other coaching hires that offset that in the eyes of a lot of people. And he leapfrogged a lot of the past Clemson ADs in the facilities improvements. So overall, he was pretty darn good I think.
What do you have to go on to say Radakovich will be better? GT didn't have huge winning programs under his watch, but did see remarkable facilities upgrades. Is that what you see???
