This week begins the Clemson basketball revenge tour....

First up is Louisville....who clearly prevented us from a NCAA bid last year, as well as having one of their players do some sort of unsportsmanlike dunk at the end.
Then it's UVA....who knocked us out of the ACCT last year and has owned us in recent years.
Then it's at UNC...time to avenge the loss in Littlejohn.
Then it's at Syracuse....Joe G's revenge game!
Then it's Miami....revenge for loss in January.
Then it's N.C. State....we owned them last year 3 times, they still made the tourney. Jack Clark comes home. PJ takes on Middlebrooks who left us.
Then it's at GT....revenge for that ridiculous loss in January.
Then it's FSU....well, we won there...but there's always reason to avenge previous FSU losses over the years.
Then it's Pitt...we played well against them in December...but I always remember that game they stole from us several years ago in Littlejohn. Long term revenge can continue.
Then it's at Notre Dame....just them being on the schedule means vengeance. What do they do for the ACC again?
Then it's Syracuse....Sr. Day....more Joe G revenge
Then it's at Wake....revenge for dodging us all year, actual road game revenge in the state of NC.
We can only hope that VT and Duke are available in the ACC tourney.
Would love to see this team get on a roll and just start pasting some other teams by double digit margins. I do think the game at UNC would be the one game that would be a monumental upset. But every other game is winnable and we'll be favored in almost all of them. No need to settle for this particular team....it's clearly time to go get it and make a run.

And we all know how that works for Clemson. We have all the tools to win we just don't do it.
Not to beat a dead horse but I really regret not having Joe G be a focal point of our outside shot game. I feel like we are 100% opportunistic in our shot selection and don't utilize pre-programmed shot opportunities which is why he isn't much of a consistent resource. At Clemson we heavily rely on our players creating their own shot and we typically don't have those types of players at Clemson.. at least consistently. Joe G on a team like virginia or princeton or one of those system style teams would average 25 a game this year as a 5th year player. He's lucky if he gets off 1 or 2 clean looks at Clemson. Most of his shots are ones where he has to run off a screen shoot a turn around jumper. Its just a missed opportunity at least so far and drives me crazy. I don't see us changing bc we're close to being halfway done with conference play.
I see other teams run set plays to get guys open 3's and they do it so effortlessly. We're more street ball style where we got guys having to call for screens and have to out athlete the opposition for points. We're better at than normal this year b/c we have better players this year. But its just a missed opportunity to be more polished. It just sux we didnt' get this ironed out over the off season.

Joe girard has taken 45 more 3 pointers than the next closest player on our team. He is shooting his highest 3 point percentage this year than he has in his entire career.
We average 15.7 assists per game. The highest total in the acc is duke at 15.8. Sounds good for a team that only plays one on one, trying to create our own shots each time down the court.
A lot of typing to prove that you dont watch our basketball team.

To add to this, girard has made the 3rd most 3 pointers in the league and has attempted the 4th most.

fade away 3's he can muster, does that qualify as a clean look? no. I could give two craps if he shoots 15 3's in a game. If they all are shots that aren't suitable for his game then what good is it?
Ive watched about all of them and come away with about the same take away. They didn't set the offense up to take advantage of his skill set. He's just another player. And he either creates his own or he goes 2-7 every game with maybe 2 good looks. He's a 5th year senior that could have been the wild card this team and the catalyst for a deep run but its just not gonna happen if we're not tailoring for the guy to get open looks. This team's trajectory would change if this guy ever got comfortable. But we're Clemson and fans just don't' see it. The see what they used to seeing.

Looking at the remaining schedule, 8-4 seems very manageable which would be 11-9 in league. That would give us 21 wins. Would probably still need to win one in the ACCT to get in as things stand now.

It will all come down to a few things.

NET Quad 1/2 wins Quad 3/4 losses
Getting 20 wins is helpful. As much of a winning record in the ACC as we can have is helpful. But neither of those things really matters.
I believe 21 wins and 11-9 in the ACC easily gets us in, provided that we minimize the bad losses. Our non-conference performance this year is really strong. They won’t have a reason to keep us out with plenty of quad 1 and 2 wins and no more than 1 or 2 “bad” losses.

No excuse to even have the Louisville game in single digits. Better be ready from the get go, because as bad as they are do have some talented freshmen and give them any confidence by hanging around and could be Ga Tech all over again.
UVa is coming around and worry that they are starting to peak. The McKenelly kid scares me how he can be lights out from 3.
UNC is by far the best team in the ACC. Not good at their place for anyone.
The two other road games at Syracuse and Wake are tough games....
