Yet another post on FB. There are a few comments where people take up for Dabo but mostly it's people supporting TK's view even though they know no more than we know, perhaps even less.
On a side note Clemson invested in Jaden gave him excellent coaching, an opportunity to be a part of an elite college football program and yet TK goes out of his was to bash Clemson and Dabo. The value this kid has received can be measured by well over a few hundred thousand dollars. And it appears Dabo let Jaden walk on while he had zero elite skills and apparently pretty pedestrian as far as his football ability goes. Dabo doing a favor gets hammered all over in social media.

Terry Kinard

·
As a former football player at both the college and professional level, I understand first hand how it feels to experience a coach getting on a player to push him to do better or to push him away. IT IS THE NATURE OF FOOTBALL, but it should never cross the line into abuse. However, as a father of a 19 yo young man, it was important for me in this instance, to stand up for my son, and to show him how to stand up for himself( especially against people who do not really know anything about him, his challenges, or even his abilities).
My motives for posting publicly were just that simple. I wanted to publicly respond to a situation that was made public by how it was delivered.
Jaden was in fact apprehensive about me posting and didn’t want it because he feared the comments. He knew that people might say negative things about me and him. He didn’t want any of that. He was willing to just move on. This affects us as a family more than people know because most might not ever understand how difficult walking away from Clemson Football and its fan base is for us. I have been a part of Clemson for over 40 years. Jaden has been a Clemson fan his whole life. My son has only known Clemson. He was Clemson born and bred, ever since he first met Coach Swinney when he was a kid.
Clemson has one of the most loyal fan bases in college football. However, I don’t think they stop often enough to consider how many players present and past that have been negatively affected by their disparaging comments. When they support you it is great, but when they turn on you, it can be brutal. These young men, like Jaden, are someone’s son, brother and loved ones. The damage can be devastating to some. We dont have to support everything about Clemson, when everything is not always right!
Overall, I will say Jaden had a great opportunity to be a part of the Clemson Football team. There were those that supported him and made his experience good. Unfortunately, it was the negative behavior towards him from a respected coach that stuck out the most in the end.
Jaden had no sense of entitlement, and we had no expectations for him to receive any type of preferential treatment because of my accomplishments at Clemson. It was quite evident that my history at Clemson meant nothing to Swinney anyway by the way he had no problem personally attacking and disrespecting my son.
It has been instilled in Jaden that education is his top priority and his desireto play and love of football is secondary. Jaden will find his way, and we his family and village of supporters will help him to move on from this.

These 2 sentences are contradictory. We didn't expect preferential treatment but I'm upset he didn't get it.

"Jaden had no sense of entitlement, and we had no expectations for him to receive any type of preferential treatment because of my accomplishments at Clemson. It was quite evident that my history at Clemson meant nothing to Swinney anyway by the way he had no problem personally attacking and disrespecting my son."

I honestly don't care about this story either way. If players want to play for Clemson/Dabo's staff they will still show up. I have yet to see any player that mattered give up on the field. Sure, some transferred out. But I remember watching GT blow out Clemson in Atlanta. I watched that entire game b/c I wanted to see if the Tigers would lay down like they did under Bowden. They didn't and they made the game close late but just couldn't get over the hump. It was 24-7 at the half. It finished 30-27. I was forever on the Dabo bus after that game.

My sources say it wasn't the way Kinard is making it out to be. Will Shipley was in the group that was doing the accountability runs as well. Everything I was told by someone who was there match what David Hood reported and Dabo responded. It seems to me this is a personal beef between Terry Kinard and Dabo or Clemson football. Maybe he wasn't included in something he felt he had earned the right to be part of. Who knows? He should have reached out to Dabo first before putting the Clemson and the Program on blast.

What did David Hood report? I missed it. Terry Kinard is saying his son was disrespected by Dabo?

I'm dissapointed that Kinard is handling it this way, by posting in public.

He's from the older generation and should be able to voice his displeasure and communicate face to face or call to call.

It used to be that what we called "an open letter" was a rare thing and usually used when there was no distinct receiver or if the author was speaking for a larger group.

Now there are more social media feuds and less man to man confrontation and working it out.

Why did Kinard not just pick up the phone and direct his anger to Swinney directly? Why did CDS feel he had to create a public response instead of calling the Kinards directly? Perhaps he did but I don't recall him stating that.

Somebody needs to tell Terry that you can transfer and play immediately nowadays, he doesn’t need to make up a bogus excuse for his son to be eligible to play immediately somewhere.

In Jadens self written recruitment bio he starts with his name followed by the fact daddy played in the NFL. He doesn't have the talent to play D1 and Dabo gave the kid a shot because of daddy. You're so right, nice thank you from the $20 john.

Look, TK is just making himself look like an idiot "Karen parent" at this point. It is a shame. His sense of entitlement is obvious in his post. In virtually any other program of Clemson's level the kid would NOT even be on the team. His kid is a 10000000% legacy "5 heart" recruit. As for Dabo, this seems like a "no good deed goes unpunished" situatio.

Personally, I hope Dabo changes his policy on kids like this. No more Herbstreits, Kinards or ANY OTHER charity case lgecacy or celebrity "5 heart" kids. Save those spots for talented walk-on kids that could actually add value to the program on the actual field some day. There is ZERO upside in having these kids on the team. ZERO.
