so many think it’s whether you dont use it at all, or you have to use it for everything….
It’s nuanced, and I think the smart people here that are stating you, have to use the portal in a meaningful, strategic way to fit your program… to fill holes where rerouting or development fell short, to create competition….
Other teams that are better, and don’t have top recruiting classes are getting better, natty better, no, but better… I think the portal made CU better this year (Heldt, Alexander, Smith).
I believe he is learning and will use it where needed this coming year…..

No it's not a light switch but can sure help with all the recruiting losses the past few years. We have zero depth at DE, safety, DB, RB, and after this year LB. QB is intriguing. Do we give Denson or CV a ligitimate shot at the starting spot or do we see who actually jumps into the portal and grab a proven QB? This may be the most interesting offseason in Clemson history.

but the head coach must first have a realistic view of his current rostered talent and not have an over inflated perception of what they truly are.
Same with development......the HC has to see where the development has fallen short first before he's willing to change.
Indiana has used it to perfection.....and yes to be "natty-ish" better vs who they are/were historically.
regarding your "he is learning" statement...........will see. I'd like to think so........time will tell.

some of the divide. With that in mind, the most obvious difference between a TP acquisition & a hs acquisition is the relative info available—when evaluating a TP prospect you are furnished more pertinent, empirical information/data, significantly more than a hs prospect which in turn reduces the risk of a miss/bust-

he KNOWs....just doesn't want to. Concerning his latest response why we didn't get a portal RB. One win prompts that confidence to go back to OLD WAY of thinking.
ALWAYS going to have kids that don't pan out, get hurt (see todays OL news), leave, etc, etc. stc.
ALWAYS get most of your talent vis HS---thats how elite programs do it....UGA, OSU, BAMA. But in todays world, you gotta fill in gaps--always be looking to improve your roster. To not to so, is negligent.

To get out of the dark, you have to at least turn the switch on…
