Very odd to play a non con game basketball like this so close to the end of the regular season. Everyone else is wrapped up in conference play and just a few games away from their conference tourney.

I saw an article about it. Both teams said they liked it for tournament prep since it's a neutral site, a quality team that you don't know much about, etc. Scheyer said they are going to try to do it again next year. The article said these games have become a rarity since conference scheduling has expanded but was making the case for teams to start doing this more often.

Duke does that almost every season. I think more teams will try to schedule games like that in late Jan or Feb. It would help the ACC teams a lot to do this.
