Is it possible for away fans to set up tailgates this Saturday?

I'm talking two buddies with a couple of folding chairs, an old smokey, and an ice chest type tailgate out the back of the car?
Traveling in from Louisiana to visit a good friend in Anderson and we're headed to the game. Don't really know of anywhere to go so thought it would be nice to set up out the back of our car if we get there early enough. Any tips welcome.
If this is impossible, any general parking info would be appreciated, pay or not.
P.S. I'm so #### excited to see another big time venue/campus for a game. I can't wait.

I don't know of anywhere you'll be able to park for free and also be able to setup a tailgate.
I know parking passes are crazy expensive. But if you can afford to buy one I would do it.

past Newman Rd on your right, go past Garden Trail (I think) on your left. The next right is parking lot C-1. Last year, you could turn right (once in the parking lot) and go to public parking - for $25. There, you can park and set up a tailgate like you described.
I hope you lose, but I hope you have fun. : - )

If I'm not mistaken, the entire C-1 Lot is IPTAY assigned parking this year.

Like others have said, it'll be tough to find a "free" spot to park but if you get a hold of a parking pass and don't feel like lugging all of your equipment, I'm sure these guys could help out. Looks like they do tailgate setups.

Is Kite Hill still free?

You would need to get there early though, for sure. I’ve actually never seen anyone tailgating on Kite Hill but… who knows. I’m a bit out of the loop. People called me crazy for parking out at the BiLo and riding my bike to campus years ago. However, it worked out great for me.
