Is Dabo's stance still the same on committing to the PAW?

Jun 20, 2017, 8:28 AM

A couple years back Dabo would request that recruits stop visiting other schools after they commit to Paw. Is that still the case now that we are currently the "it" school since we are now offering recruits that are committed to other schools and with the hope (wink wink) they to come visit where the Blue Ridge yawns its greatness? This is a slippery slope. Thoughts and insights. . .

Dabo has never said anything about offering players who are committed. If a committed player visits Clemson then Dabo views them as not committed to anyone. The same can be said of a Clemson commit visiting other schools. Sure there are the exceptions, visiting with a team or relative, but Dabo is still firm on this. Clemson recruits the right way and shuts down recruiting once numbers are met. That means a players commitment should not be taken lightly by the player or the University.

It's not a slippery slope at all and due to Clemson's success the last 6 seasons, Dabo seems to be doing it the right way. As far as I know, kids always have the last word. I like the way Dabo does it. For example: R. Smith was only 99.9% ALL IN. Dabo asked him to decommit which he did. Perfect example.

better a slippery slope than a slippery slop.

Dabo's stance has not changed. If a kid commits to us, he is expected to stop the visits. If he continues to visit, he is viewed as really not "committed", but that doesn't necessarily mean he can't come to Clemson. It does mean that we may offer someone else and pull his offer, or we may not, if he discontinues with the visits. We've seen that. One of our recruits (maybe DW4) visited somewhere, but he was honest and told Dabo, and it was forgotten quickly. Really, it reinforced that what Clemson has to offer is second to none.
