Is anyone else worried that we are missing out on the best RB recruits

because we are asking them to block too much? I think the game is changing and there may be a price to pay to stick to this old school mentality that the running back should help the Quarterback. I think that we should embrace the generation Z mentality of only being conscious with self image and instead of using so much time on blocking, we should helping recruits with their social media skills like Georgia Tech is doing. We are quickly becoming like a dinosaur program. Running backs should only have to worry about yards per carry, and their follower count. Defense used to win championships, but now clearly social media presence has replaced defense as the most important. I want to make sure that we not only get the best running backs in terms of physical talent, but also the most popular and socially influential running backs. So asking too much of them with blocking is going to make Clemson get left behind by up and coming programs like UCLA and Coastal Carolina.

I say that if a RB can't help block at Clemson, he is better off somewhere else. They expect other players to block for them, don't they!!!

Nope. Smart high school coaches will advise backs that blocking is their ticket to the NFL. It's a different mentality now. They need to be good blockers and receivers if they want to get paid. We are doing better than ever..... Ask Spiller.

Well, I will let you know I am not the least bit worried about what our coaching staff is asking our recruits to do. What does worry me is that you might pass this on to Dabo.

You must be looking at different games or different players or reading something written by Nancy Pelosi...I just saw our freshman 4th string running back rip one on ACC net replay...don't worry about that crap...once they get to Clemson they'll be 5* and learning to block etc. makes them complete running backs! IN DABO WE TRUST!

Just the opposite. I'm worried we're missing out on the best QB recruits because we ask them to run downfield to block for RBs and seal the edge for WRs on reverses. We're doomed.

The best blocker in the tailback room, a previous 5* recruit, just sullied his name last summer by going to Cootlumbia. If you can build enough of a Twitter following to destroy it doing that then anyone else coming in shouldn't have any problems.
