Intramural Sports

Jan 18, 2022, 8:50 PM

Why is that seen as less?
(Clemson women drop to 0-6)

Why does every thing have to be #1 to be great?

Should we drop all but Intramural Sports? Any could make a case for that, but not what any of us want.

Any here who did that at Clemson?
I joined the Taekwondo club.
Not even on the radar was our boxing group who met and beat each other up in storage rooms in the Tin Cans. I was a bloody mess most days.

The down town pool hall was a teacher. There were also tables in Tillman Hall but the cues there were curved and tables were thread bare as Coach Howard needed all the $$ for our boys.
There was ping pong but seldom a ball.

There was some seriously

Competitive basketball teams, softball and football teams I was on and got to play against. It may have meant a hill of beans to anyone else, but we were at war. It mattered. And there was always, always beer afterward.

Football (flag), bball and softball were big intramural sports when I was at Clemson. There was also a club rugby team, too. I lived off campus and worked, so didn't play intramurals, but played a LOT of pickup bball games between classes. I recall the scholarship athletes couldn’t compete intramurally in their sport, so the football players played bball. I was at Clemson during the ‘ Steve Fuller and Dwight Clark years ‘, and think they played for SAE(?), who won the intramural championship in bball at least once, I believe.

I also recall playing pickup games against the Bostic brothers. I didn’t know them personally, and didn’t know which was which, but I DO REMEMBER seeing one of them - while we shooting around, warming up before a game - dunk the ball behind his head from standing flat footed under the rim…. I had NEVER SEEN ANYONE that huge be so athletic before. Just wow!

Whatever choice(s) you make makes you. Choose wisely.
