A young man makes the humble decision…

To knowingly be a backup, travel (literally) across the country, and embrace Clemson and Clemson culture… and we have grown men ripping him apart, saying how bad he is, to bench him, asking him to transfer back to a Cali school… I am piggy backing of Cali Tigers post because it’s absurd how our FAN BASE is going after this kid. A few will reply Here that “95% of the criticism is on the coaches” and that’s BS, it’s at minimum a 50/50 from all the posts and the majority that none the coaches also backhand blame DJ.
This was a #2 overall recruit in the country and put his faith and future into Clemson, from California… to be a back up. He’s a great kid, great family and has shown how capable he is last season. NIL has nothing to do with this, it’s coaching, coaching accountability and scheme (ie coaching).
Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but attacking and bad mouthing a kid that put so much trust in our coaches, our school and our fans ain’t the way to go.

says they didn't chose Clemson or they left Clemson because they learned that the fans are only good with you as long as you win games, i.e., the culture amongst the fanbase sucks...

It happened to LSU last year, 6 months after they had the best team of all time. Just because it hasn’t happens to us yet, doesn’t mean it won’t or can’t happen. We just need to be better than attacking a kid that trusted us, our coaches and the school.

I think he’s a great kid with a ton of natural talent. He was amazing last year, but obviously something is off with him right now. I think to show that the coaches are trying, they need to let Taisun get some reps and throw some more Will Taylor wildcat out there. The whole team needs to be there for him if something in his personal life is affecting him so much that he looks like a 100% different player than he did last year. They can support him, and still take him out the game when he is obviously struggling. If he is the high character player we believe him to be, and they try a scheme that features another player more, he will understand and be happy that the train is rolling along like it should. (Assuming that the new scheme had us producing like we have come accustomed to.)

And is it possible that we have multiple problems with the offense? Who is responsible for correcting those problems? Maybe, just maybe, the offensive coordinator is ultimately responsible.

Yep. All of this.
I don’t care if people rip the coaches a new one for whatever reason. I don’t abide trashing the athletes. At all.
I think I’ll start to RA any posts I see that trash players.

sentiments. I'm having trouble feeling really bad for "kids" who have out-earned the majority of the US Population in just a year. Still no need for people to personal attack players, but standard of play as a "semi-pro" to me seems like it should be higher.

I agree with part of what you say Morbid, but he did not come to Clemson for NIL money, that was not his motivation. So NIL money should have nothing to do with how we treat him. He came here because he loved Clemson and what we are about. He has not play up to his standards, but I think he will get there. Like you said our fans should not be ripping him.

Just my thoughts and opinion - We all know something is amiss and whether NIL took time away from the QB and WR chemistry and learning reads during the summer, who knows and at this point it should be corrected. There are some RPOs where the defensive formation and numbers dictate the WR chooses if he is going inside or outside and I don't believe everyone has been on the same page at least a couple times a game. The one thing that CAN'T happen is the receiver give up on his choice because that can lead to an INT or worse a pick 6.
I read that DW and Mike Williams could just look at each other and DW knew where he was going. The same just hasn't happened with this group yet.

I've kept my criticism to the coaches. While something may be off with DJ, I put it down more to him being "tweaked" and "handcuffed" by the game plans. He's a natural athlete and is being limited in what he does.

He just doesn’t fit the offense Clemson has run since they got good. They’ve always had a running quarterback. When they decided to use DJ they should have overhauled the offense to suit him. But they were too arrogant to do that. So maybe they’ll treat these first games as a seminar, learn from them, make major adjustments and come roaring back.
