"Im sick of Trump and JD and their love affair with Putin," the GOP Senator

grumbled. “They’re just testing how far we’ll bend over. It makes me sick,” the lawmaker said.

Senate Republicans are growing increasingly exasperated over President Trump’s refusal to give them permission to move tough bipartisan sanctions legislation against Russia and countries that buy its oil.

The bipartisan support is there, but Republicans are afraid of Trump and refuse to push it forward until Trump offers his support.

Why does Trump continue to enable Putin and refuse to provide the weapons and sanctions that Ukraine needs to force Russia to the bargaining table?

The GOPers in the House & Senate poop in their Depends every time they see Trump's shadow or shake his tiny hands.

We need the first branch of Government to take its power back, for fk'sake....

Yes, but too late for Ukraine. The House & Senate introduced the Act April 1st

and Trump has blocked it, along with feckless Republicans in Congress.

Why is Trump aiding Putin? Why won't he act?

In that case, the Dems need to get their act together***

Falsehood flies, and truth comes limping after it, so that when men come to be undeceived, it is too late; the jest is over, and the tale hath had its effect: like a man, who hath thought of a good repartee when the discourse is changed, or the company parted; or like a physician, who hath found out an infallible medicine, after the patient is dead.

Not only is Trump's inaction bad for Ukraine it is dangerous, as Putin may make a miscalculation and threaten another nation even though his military ain't exactly crushing it in its 3 1/2 war in Ukraine.

He is definitely testing NATO and Trump.

There is a massive problem with this sentence that's deeper than their love affair for Putin.

You guys sound so ignorant like you know Russia would be defeated and go home if only Trump did:
What exactly? What do you want him to do short of declaring war on Russia?

Sanctions? already there
Weapons? already there
Support? already there (we spend $1M a day on surveillance and intel gathering for Ukraine)
Harsh words? already there

Like Trump told the UN, until the EU and other countries stop buying Putin's oil, there is no way to end the war unless we go to war. So, I guess that is what you dummies want to do. I guess it's not your kids getting their legs blown off, so what do you care what happens as long as you get your liberal sound bite.

So pathetic.

Hungary, Turkey and Slovakia are the NATO countries importing Russian oil.

Autocratic friends of Trump.

Remember, this thread began with a post about passing The Sanctioning Russia Act of 2025 that has been teed up since April 1, 2025 that would impose sanctions on those countries that are importing Russian oil.

When do you think Trump will stop making excuses and actually do something to turn the tide against Russia?

Basically, If the US and or NATO declares war on Russia, no one wins. Then instead of thousands of deaths, there will be millions. If, Putin is the madman that everyone claims(as I do), that's a cliff that no one walks back from. We've all seen the pictures, and it ain't pretty.

At what point do you quit being a puss and make a stand. Should we cower everytime a nuclear powered dictator makes threats? We have nukes too, correct?

However, does that then mean you let Russia invade whoever they want?

But even moreover, folks were pointing out that Trump's open criticism of Ukraine's leadership along with his friendly tone toward the aggressor would embolden these actions. And it appears they have,

AS was said back then, it wasn't a binary choice between US boots on the ground to defend Ukraine and vocally support Russia. There were a myriad of strategies in the middle, and Trump decided to play powerful man and insult Zelnski and vocally diminish the Ukraine's ability (and often right) to defend themself.

The US and NATO should publicly declare they will enter the war. They will assist pushing Russia back over the border and reclaim Crimea. Once that occurs hostilities cease, Ukraine becomes a NATO protectorate. Putin is not gonna go nuclear.
He is a crime boss , having a territory is utmost to him. He will not if he goes nuclear.

This is a cop out from a man trying to protect Putin or justify his own inaction

"Like Trump told the UN, until the EU and other countries stop buying Putin's oil, there is no way to end the war unless we go to war."

The reality is:

1) No one in Europe buys any oil from Russia of any material quantity except for Hungary and Slovakia, and they are on Team Russia.
2) LNG purchases have decreased from 45% of LNG needs to 13%.
3) Europe has a plan to be Russia-free in their energy needs by 2027.

You can wag your finger at them all you want but telling them to be completely free immediately is like tell us to be completely free of Chinese trade immediately. It's not that simple. They have made tremendous strides and done considerable damage to Russia's revenue stream. Every gallon of fossil fuel Russia sells now costs more to sell and sells for less than when Russia utilizes well-established supply chains to Europe.

The idea that nothing can be done until EU doesn't buy a single drop of oil or gas from Russia is just a cop-out. There is plenty more that we could do and if we had a leader in charge, we would.
