Has anyone posted anything yet about them? What they do and don't best and how we match up...I need a little reassurance. I'm dying nervous over here.

In my opinion if we don't turn the ball over

we should be fine. They have a good offense and big play capability and their defense is decent but they've played no one the caliber of Clemson so I think that will be a tremendous advantage for us. If we play some solid defense I think we can win by at least two touchdowns.

Exactly...A lot of people getting caught up in the flashy numbers and the sportscenter highlights. They haven't played anyone with a pulse offensively with the exception of maybe NC State.
If we don't turn it over four times, which has been a challenge lately, I don't see them keeping up. Remember last year? Same exact formula as last year should come away with a victory and conference championship.

last year is exactly why I am nervous. We don't have the LB

play that we did last year and they scored at will on us last year. We will have to outscore them and make zero turnovers and zero mistakes on special teams to win this game.

true. but the recent examples show that is a big if. Coots took the ball from us a couple times staurday and some that were close to take aways and not called. we never seemed to catch on that they were. If UNC beats us so be it. If we give it away it and beat ourselves it would be a shame. we have put ourselves into a unique position. we need to capitalize on it.

they remind me of clemson a couple of years ago. They are finding their way on defense, and are not the most physical team up front on offense, despite having some size. Marquise Williams reminds me a lot of Boyd, in that he has a decent arm, but is a guy that will get first downs with his feet and is a relentless competitor. They may not have quite the skill package and their secondary is suspect, but they have enough play makers to win. We will have to play mistake free, but we are the better team. Watson is the difference here, but I think our Oline will have their way with the Tarheels. They are a really good team, and Chizik deserves a ton of credit for turning that defense around. I say we have a 65% chance of winning this one if recent weeks are an indicator, 90% if we play to our ability and show up inspired. This team is going to have to reach down deep because it will be a game through the 4th quarter. UNC can score on anyone, their defense is good enough to slow us down if we do not execute well.

It's an analysis from one of us, but if you read through, they're gonna claim they have the edge on all skill positions except QB.
http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=78&f=1408&t=14340228
That said, I read through a lot and break down a lot of stats. Interesting notes:
- Like someone said above, UNC has yet played a D near that of Clemson. Atlantic D's are clearly better. The best D's are Pitt and NC State. BC, Louisville and FSU all have better D.
- On the other side, UNC has yet played against an O near that of Clemson. The best O's one heir schedule are Duke and NC State. UNC will be the best offense we will face too, but at least we have played ND.
- It doesn't look like their d-line is gonna be an issue for our o-line. Same goes for the other side of the ball.
- Their secondary seems to be a strong unit. They broke up a lot of passes. The numbers of PBU for both CBs are much higher than ours--27 versus 11. However, keep in mind that they have yet played a stellar offense.
- Their fans may claim that they have better WRs, but, of course, Clemson fans would disagree. I'd say we have the talents, clearly higher rated recruits. The numbers may look close, but their catch percentage numbers are lower. Also, again, they have yet faced a good D. I'll give the edge here to Clemson. BTW, their receivers are tall though. I'll give your the numbers here:
Player Pos. Ht, Wt Year Targets Catches Yards TD Yds/Catch Yds/Target Catch Rate Target Rate Artavis Scott WR 5'11, 190 SO 93 77 709 4 9.2 7.6 82.8% 24.2% Charone Peake WR 6'3, 215 SR 58 36 523 5 14.5 9.0 62.1% 15.1% Jordan Leggett TE 6'5, 255 JR 45 31 418 6 13.5 9.3 68.9% 11.7% Deon Cain WR 6'2, 200 FR 43 32 570 5 17.8 13.3 74.4% 11.2% Ray-Ray McCloud WR 5'10, 180 FR 29 23 211 1 9.2 7.3 79.3% 7.6% Germone Hopper WR 6'0, 180 JR 28 21 317 1 15.1 11.3 75.0% 7.3% Hunter Renfrow WR 5'10, 175 FR 27 19 323 2 17.0 12.0 70.4% 7.0%
Player Pos. Ht, Wt Year Targets Catches Yards TD Yds/Catch Yds/Target Catch Rate Target Rate Ryan Switzer WR 5'10, 185 JR 70 50 638 4 12.8 9.1 71.4% 21.6% Quinshad Davis WR 6'4, 220 SR 68 46 505 4 11.0 7.4 67.6% 21.0% Bug Howard WR 6'5, 210 JR 48 25 435 3 17.4 9.1 52.1% 14.8% Mack Hollins WR 6'4, 210 JR 41 26 670 8 25.8 16.3 63.4% 12.7% Brandon Fritts TE 6'4, 245 FR 16 13 157 3 12.1 9.8 81.2% 4.9% Kendrick Singleton TE 6'2, 215 SR 16 10 124 1 12.4 7.8 62.5% 4.9% Austin Proehl WR 5'10, 175 SO 13 12 225 1 18.8 17.3 92.3% 4.0%
- From the above, clearly we have a better TE.
- Their time of possession wasn't good. They averaged about 25 minutes, but that's probably why their D gave up a lot of yards.
- Their rushing D is 105th in the nation and 13th in ACC.
- Their rushing O looks good though. Marquise Williams, Elijah Hood and T.J. Logan have combined over 2,500 yards on the ground. This can pose a big treat to our D.
- This Saturday will be the largest stage they play. The largest crowd they played was 65,000 at Virginia Tech. All the rest averaged to about 50,000.
- Lately, they put a lot of balls on the ground. They fumbled 11 times in the last 3 games, while only lost 5.
That's all I recall for now. But a lot of these ease up my mind a little bit. Clemson may not play well in the last three games, but I kinda think they're all trap games as most expected to be easy wins based on their record and performance. I think we should be back to our normal intensity again in the title game.
