Some notes from a less eventful Dabo Swinney Tiger Calls show:
* Swinney referenced the wide variety of bowls Clemson is now eligible for in the ACC, which range from Boston/NYC in the Northeast, the array of Florida Bowls to El Paso, Texas and San Diego, California outside the Eastern Time Zone. "The more we win, the warmer it gets. If we don't finish well, it's going to be cold somewhere."
* With an expanded Playoff coming next year (12 teams), Swinney says he challenged his team to treat this month like a set of Playoff games, and he says his team has responded to that. "The best we can be is 9-4, and that would be a great finish from where we started. Finish as a ranked team and all those things...A lot of missed opportunity (this season), but the guys have continued to battle. Nobody on this team has quit, and we've gotten stronger and we've gotten better. So we've got an opportunity to finish (well), and it's a big challenge this week. This is a good football team coming in here. Man, our guys are here to play...They're excited to go compete..."
* Swinney talked about all of the younger players stepping up against Georgia Tech and he said the count was at 16 scholarship players out last week. "You saw a lot of our young talent. Not just the freshmen, we've got some sophomores like Wade Woodaz, some of our redshirt freshmen like Kylon Griffin, Kobe McCloud, Josh Sapp, Collin Sadler -- Harris Sewell, true freshman, Blake (Miller) is just a sophomore. We've got really good foundational pieces...We've got a lot of great days ahead. There's no doubt about that."
* He was asked about the biggest difference on offense in the last two games. Swinney referenced the turnover margin success and some of the moving pieces on the O-line. "We were fighting for our life out there (versus Notre Dame). It was a situation where everybody wants to win and they're battling their butts off. We felt like with Notre Dame that if we could just cover them up -- we would have a chance...The biggest thing is guys are fighting and straining to get their jobs done. We've just played cleaner football...Garrett (Riley) has done a great job of taking what we've got and trying to be efficient."
* Swinney said they held a recruiting event on the field after Saturday's game where they ate dinner on the field in Death Valley and watched games on the big screens.

Sounds like a cool idea to me. Somebody should share that with Norvell.👌👍👌
What could be neater than eating a big ole prime rib while watching games on the big screen and having Dabo serve you some ice cream with hot fudge topping for dessert?

MyfavOrange® mentioned seeing a tent (or tents) on the field after the game. Maybe it was for the recruiting event.
