No they don't...I switched from Verizon to Alltel because Verizon had no towers in my area and Alltel did...within a year Verizon had bough out Alltel in the Upstate of SC and got their towers

Or at least they used to, that's the only way AT&T would let Verizon sell the iPhone, remember back when AT&T was the only iPhone carrier? But now other carriers have it too I believe, so idk

Sometimes there's leased space when equipment is installed in close proximity, but let's just say for simplicity sake, they are using different programming languages. There are differences between carriers.

to only help verizon customers.I have AT&T and I'm on a verizon tower.It's whatever tower is closest to you now.I actually have an app that can make my phone switch towers and can find the strongest signal towers.
