Just livin' off Barrett Pkwy aint what it used to be. It's like that old highway that runs through Spartanburg now.

EXACTLY what you are all talking about. But you all don’t understand what I mean when I voice my grievances, but here I go.
As the crow flies 3.5m a 6 lane interstate and huge junction from my house. We sit up on a ridge (yes there is basically one place in Michigan with huge hills) and we can hear the interstate. We be out back grilling, thinking you are in a nice space and all the sudden you hear engine braking and then on 8 mile, muscle and exotic cars racing. The other night at 3:30 I took the dog to poop and I heard what sounded like several Hell Cats or Demons racing. It gets exhausting in the summer.
The problem here is every single dolt can afford a muscle car due to programs, dealer tags and demos and such. So people race 24/7.

the mountain between me and Roanoke, backlit by the city lights of Roanoke. Kinda cool for me, but those peeps don't realize how much light pollution there is. Thankfully it doesn't kill fish.

Long while ago took a weekend fishing trip in the Everglades

Bunch of friends had made this trip regularly, I was invited due to a late drop-out. We rented a houseboat out of Flamingo, motored out to Coot Bay (yes, it's a real place) and anchored the house boat. 3 of the guys brought their fishing boats to hip-tie to the houseboat each night. Each morning head out to fish, come back to the houseboat for lunch, whatever. And you ate what you caught. Great weekend 'cept for the constant skeeters.
Luckily the houseboat was far enough away from the treeline that the skeeters wouldn't come out, so we would go up on the roof deck, drink and shoot the #### under the stars. You're in the middle of nowhere, so it's dark. But on the horizon to the east was a white line that looked like it was smeared into sky.
It was the lights from the greater Miami area. The edge of Homestead is 30 miles from Coot Bay. Miami-proper is 60 miles from Coot Bay. But you could see the lights.
Un-fucking-real. I'll never forget that.
