I'm scared

Dec 3, 2012, 10:02 AM

I can't tell you how irritated it gets me to have heard this so many times lately from Clemson fans! They may not say those exact words but they way I have heard people say they don't want to play a good team in a bowl or we will get crushed. You should be ashamed of yourselves! We may win or we may lose and the better the team is that we play there is a better chance that we lose but there is no reason for fear. The worst part about this is that the same people saying these things are the ones bashing our players and coaches for being soft. How much softer does it get than to say you are scared to play against a certain team. You won't hear this from our players and coaches. Maybe you should be the ones looking in the mirror and toughening up! I can't wait for the bowl game!!! Go Tigers!!!

Whats there to be scared of, we already lost our bowl game.***

Hopefully you are being sarcastic

Dec 3, 2012, 10:09 AM

but this is basically what I have heard from people who are completely serious. But even if we do end up losing there is no reason to go in scared.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I agree TigersO

It's incredibly wimpified to be scared of LSU just because they have the reputation of being physical.

If our team makes up its mind to play meaner and faster than they have all year, we win by several TDs.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Hopefully we win

Dec 3, 2012, 10:12 AM

but we are the lower ranked and less talented team overall. We are the underdog anyway you look at it. That means there is even less reason to be scared because we have nothing to lose.

Scared is punting away any chance of beating scar just to keep the losing score close

Strategy

Dec 3, 2012, 10:26 AM

Please tell me what we had a better chance of doing at that point. Converting on a 4 and 16 or getting them to drop the punt or have it hit one of their players on a bounce or Thompson throwing an INT(he had already thrown 1 and we had dropped 3 more). Sure it didn't work and it's the safer bet but there wasn't much chance or either play working so he chose the play that kept us in the game longer to try to find another way to win.

Re: Strategy

Dec 3, 2012, 10:27 AM

A 16 yard pass is not impossible.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Neither is the other stuff

Dec 3, 2012, 10:28 AM

but we had more interceptions thrown by us and caught by us than we had 16 yards plays in the 2nd half I believe. So which was more likely at the time?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Neither is the other stuff

Dec 3, 2012, 10:37 AM

I think completing the 16 yard pass is more likely than a muffed punt or getting the ball back in time, to be honest.

Punting the ball in that situation is the John Fox thing to do. But the Tigers don't have the Denver Broncos defense.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I was just saying

Dec 3, 2012, 10:39 AM

that there could be some strategy to it. It's not like he punted down 3 with 30 second left and no time outs.

Re: Strategy

Dec 3, 2012, 10:51 AM [ in reply to Strategy ]

Great strategy. Counting on the other team's qb to throw an int. They didn't even need to throw a pass after we surrendered and punted.
I would rather have counted on Taj, Nuk, Sammy, and all of our other playmakers to at aleast try and win the game.
Surrendering sux...and it causes coaches to go into hiding!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Didn't realize you are one of those people

Dec 3, 2012, 10:54 AM

who think Dabo is in hiding. No point in trying to have a logical conversation with you. A punt extends the game. That was what he was doing. A lot of things can happen at midfield that are good for Clemson. Not many can happen by your own endzone.

Re: Didn't realize you are one of those people

Dec 3, 2012, 11:08 AM

I confess, I am "one of those people" who HATES losing to scar obviously much more than CU's coaches. And one who would rather go down swinging than surrendering. Are you one of those people who has forgotten that we needed two scores, not one? There was not time to give them the ball back.

Whoa! hate to but gotta agree though I think Morris screwed up gameplan in 2nd half - too much trying to keep
Boyd in pocket when the way to beat fast edge rushers is to run at them - play action mobile QB & tailbacks as every team that played well vs usuc did...and it is the way saban said the way he changed his offensive play in 2nd half vs Ga. GO TIGER COACHES ADAPT AND PLAY BIG BOY FOOTBALL VS LSU

"scared" - agree - glad you are being sarcastic with title

YES! thanks!

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Main reason to go to a decent bowl!

Dec 3, 2012, 10:22 AM

To play a decent team!

Dec 3, 2012, 10:32 AM

People want to preach to other fans all of the time on here. It gets annoying, to say the least.

It won't take long to see somebody say something similar to what I was talking about. And that is what is annoying. I was also referring to how many of those same people complain about our team and coaches being soft. Doesn't make much sense to me.
