GOR. Going to be difficult to break.

Jul 12, 2022, 11:36 AM

This is a pretty hard core contract. Not sure any conference would come after ACC schools having to deal with it. It would get tied up in the courts for a few years, not sure if it's worth the gamble. I'm sure lawyers are trying to see if there's a way out.

I'm not so sure about that...

The GOR includes a "competitive revenue clause". Others who have reviewed it have confirmed that it does. Right now, 80% of conference revenue is generated by football and, over the last several years, Clemson has accounted for the lions share of that in the ACC, yet their return is peanuts compared to the competition in other leagues. This, in and of itself, is an out for Clemson. The league can't hold Clemson hostage if Clemson can make twice the revenue elsewhere. That's overly punitive and inequitable. A good contract attorney would have a field day with this in court.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Well, I wish we would've had good contract attorneys involved when we signed on in the first place.

Would love to see this clause myself? All I’ve seen so far are second hands account about another person or source seeing this language.

Not only would it be costly to break, but the SEC isn’t going to touch it when it comes to helping to foot the bill- I believe it when sources say they’re not looking to expand (for now).

Getting out of the ACC is wishful thinking, so it getting Notre Dame to join the conference. Our options are bleak. Phillips needs to find some way to increase our revenues.

The Conference has not kept up it's end of the deal,Clemson with 2 NC's will have the RIGHT to seek a conference that can pay them what a team of their stature is worth.

SIMPLE AS THAT !
