Dont understand the disdain over alcohol sales

At Clemson sporting events. I see people drinking liquor at 9 am on game days. It’s been going on my entire life. People get drunk before the game, leave at halftime and come back drunk. Nothing is going to change. Drinking a few beers is better than walking back to the tailgate to hammer shots.

The reason for the disdain is old people don't like change so their first response is to push back against said change.

Only a matter of time before re-entry after a pit-stop at the tailgate is no longer allowed. Just wait.

Yes, because we all know that alcohol consumed outside the stadium

only affects the human body in the parking lot, and stops exerting its effects when people are inside the stadium.
Whereas alcohol consumed in the stadium makes people act completely crazy, to the point that women and children cannot be anywhere near them for fear of being exposed to harm or danger.

If we are worried about cups of beer getting dumped on someones head by someone going to their seat guess we better cancel soda in the plastic Clemson cups too.

I’d imagine the odds of someone drunk spilling beer are greater than soda being spilled by sober people. Of course accidents happen with both beverages.

I was at the ACCCG vs SMU. The SMU fans in front of my wife, 14yr old daughter and myself were very drunk and obnoxious. It was the Clemson fan behind us spilling the beer on us. He also threw a beer at the SMU fans. I'm not old (45) and I'm not a Christian either. So not sure which stereotype I fit in for some posters but it's a different atmosphere when alcohol is involved. Period.

I'm just curious what the net take will be and will it go towards Football/NIL

How much will the bottom line be. There will be cost involved, one of which should be additional security to handle those that can't be responsible. For all the majors already doing this the financial impact must be worth it.
Really, most events I go to, you don't see too many problems.
Hope it only has positive impacts on our University.
Go Tigers!

generated in excess of $6 million in alcohol sales in 2023. That includes all athletic venues.
They suck at pretty much everything but Lady Strap-On Hoops, so the consensus seems to be you need to liquored-up just to watch.
Clemson's decision to start selling alcohol is 100% totally, completely, and entirely revenue driven.

I personally don't think it's a big deal, though I'm glad I'm not a student because walking over mini bottles on the hill is much easier than stepping over the piles of beer cans that I know will be there this fall

I’m old school. I liked blue laws. However, it’s time. We’re one of the last THREE power four schools NOT selling alcohol. It’s not going to change anything except revenue. If they weren’t spilling beers down your back it would be soft drinks. If you haven’t had a soft drink on you at DV then I argue you’ve never been.
Making generalizations about religious people is about as smart as labeling all southerners rednecks. It’s a tired illogical argument that wouldn’t withstand any debate in a logical format. Yes, there are religious hypocrites just as there are yankee rednecks.

There may be less drunks in the Valley by allowing them to buy a beer “in stadium” rather than getting liquer’ed up before games and slamming shots at halftime in the parking lots .. because it’s new or different, doesn’t make it a bad thing. NIL and “Portal pay/play” requires more revenue …

Many people are nostalgic and want things to stay the way they have always been.

Even if that isn’t necessarily the best or most practical way of doing things today.
A lot of people have an idyllic view of Clemson sporting events. They are their happy place, a place where any and everyone can go for a time of fun and fellowship. Since many people bond with family and friends at Clemson games, their concern is that adding alcohol to games will harm those events and prevent those memories from continuing to happen.
I don’t think any of that is going to be negatively impacted by alcohol sales at these sporting events, but that seems to be their fear.
