How does replay miss a fumble that touches the pylon?....

I applaud the ACC for letting fans see and hear what they are discussing. But they messed that call up. Control of the ball was lost before the player was out of bounds and before the ball crossed the line, and the ball hit the pylon after control was lost. It was a fumble.

Agreed, and subsequently a touchback and a turnover should have occurred. It was very obvious in that last angle reviewed after their decision was made.

I honestly could not tell if it hit or not but it did not sound like that was even in their discussions. I had thought they were more or less checking to see if it was possibly a touchdown.

Yeah ..... I think the problem was that they were not even looking at that. Since it was not called a fumble on the field, I wonder if they can consider another call other than the one that was called on the field (if that make any sense).

a TD by touching the pylon with control...and didn't consider the ball touched the pylon out-of-control.
One of the guys said the ball didn't touch the pylon - which another view clearly showed it did.
I do like hearing the conversation.

He couldn't tell if it was the loose football or the player's body part that hit the pylon. I grumbled a bit like a good Tiger fan, then let it go. Fun game for sure.

You are correct my friend. Had there been no replay, there would never have been any discussion on this topic. With the absence of the pylon cam you couldn't definitively tell what hit the pylon. Even if we'd lost, it's a non issue. I thought they did a good job. The worst was Louisville getting flagged for a hold that didn't happen.

His arms around our linebacker (Alexander i believe). Announcers said something about his hands getting outside but it was way more than that. Literally bear hugged him.
Would Alexander have made the tackle? Did it truly impact the play? Not sure, but it was definitely a hold

Not sure if enough evidence was there to overturn the call but it's concerning that the touch back wasn't discussed.

While listening to the discussion, I agreed with the refs. Live, it looked to me the player had control of the ball until after he hit the ground. The replays showed he didn't, So the discussion became did the ball hit the pylon.
From the replays theyshowed on TV I agreed with the refs. There was not conclusive evidence the ball hit the pylon.
Then when they went back to the live broadcast it showed an angle (far sideline down the goal line) that clearly showed it was the ball that made contact with the pylon beofre the leg did.
So, why didn't the replay booth have that angle?
