We wont make CFP if we lose the ACCCG

In the extremely unlikely case that we win out and miss the ACCCG, (11-1) we’re in. Otherwise, our only viable path is to win the ACC.
Why do I say this? 2-loss, non-champ Clemson isn’t making the CFP over any 2-loss SEC team (except Mizzou), 1-loss ND, 1-loss B1G team, or 1-loss Big 12 team. It’s increasingly looking like there will be more than 7 teams in the above categories.
The ACC’s only shot at two teams is 12-1 ACC Champ Clemson and 12-1 ACC runner up Miami. An 11-1 SMU would be left out.

Every prediction I’ve seen so far is based on Clemson losing the ACC championship and still getting in. A lot is going to happen over the next five weeks. Who knows what the scenarios will be.

when plenty of teams will get in who weren't able to lose their respective title game.
It's weird that Clemson would be better off by not making the ACCCG. That shouldn't be the case.

That we would've lost both of our "big" games and wouldn't really have a marquee win. I mean, of course I'd love to get in and see, but if I'm being honest a 2 loss non-ACC champ Clemson team (with losses in both of our big games) just woiuldb't have the resume. My only caveat to that would be if other candidates for the at large spots were in a similar situation.

Agree with OP. All this hand wringing about where we are in the polls every week is irrelevant. We either make the playoffs as ACC champion with a top 4 seed or we don't make it at all. There's no path for us getting an at large bid with more than one loss and no ACC championship.

2010
Michigan St. and Oklahoma St. were 12-2 and finished 13 and 14.
2011
TCU was 11-2 and finished 14.
2012
Louisville was 11-2 and finished 13.
2013
Baylor was 11-2 and Louisville was 12-1 and they finished 13 and 15 respectively.
I didn't look any further...

We are not making the playoff if we lose another game, period. The playoff wasn't expanded to help out the smaller conferences. It was expanded to get more SEC and BIG schools into the playoff. In the event there is a 3 way tie for the ACC championship game, I could even see Clemson being left out because of the strength of schedule. The ESPN talking heads have been mentioning this frequently. While I don't agree with them, this is just signaling to the "non-biased" playoff committee who should get in and who shouldn't. I think only 1 ACC school is getting in no matter what. That is the champion.

The ESPN talking heads are right when they ask, "Name a quality win for Clemson."
It's not there. Think about that when you're playing the Citadel.

I totally agree. I have wondered for years why we keep scheduling teams like Furman, Wofford and the Citadel when our former AD Dan Radakovich served on the CFP selection committee.

Right now, Clemson is ahead in the tiebreaker by a pretty big margin over SMU. But, that can still change.
If Clemson does go 11-1 and lose the tiebreaker, I think we are firmly in the CFP. We would have some significant wins by that point an a lot of momentum in the polls and national "opinion" since a first-game loss.
Also, in the scenario that Clemson and Miami both win out and play for the ACCGG, and Clemson wins, Miami would definitely make the CFP. There's no way they'd drop far enough from an undefeated regular season and likely top-5 rank heading into the ACCCG to be dropped all the way out.

The entire CLemson schedule is cupcake city. Name one quality win.
UGA's remaining schedule is tougher than CLemson's entire schedule.

Who is comparing Clemson's schedule to UGA's schedule?
The only comparison I made is to point out that UGA (and every single other school in the country) also schedules an OOC game (or multiple) against a much inferior opponent every year. Yes, we play Citadel...and you played TN TECH. It's irrelevant to mention Citadel when UGA does the same thing.

You ignored: NAME ONE QUALITY WIN FOR CLemson.
I'm comparing ANY SEC Team's schedule with CLemson's...just like everyone outside of the state of SC does. That's why the entire college football nation thinks it's a joke.
Who is more deserving? A team that plays cupcakes to barely makes it to 11-1 or a team that plays multiple top ten opponents that goes 10-2?

UGA is in at 10-2, so no need to get your doggie diaper in a knot. In fact, avoiding the SECCG and hosting a first round playoff game would be ideal for UGA.
But saying 11-1 Clemson would have barely beaten cupcakes is just silly. Our degree of difficulty is about to go up substantially over the next few games, and we blown out everyone after the loss.

I didn't mention UGA in my post. I'm thinking LSU, Texas, Tennessee, Bama, Ole Miss, or an aTm team that is definitely more deserving. If UGA gets upset somewhere, I would include them as well. That's just in the SEC. I could mention more teams in other conferences that have at least one quality win and would be more deserving. Beating cupcakes every week shouldn't get you in the playoffs.

There's going to be a log jam of 2-3 loss teams. Probably around 5 teams who will get left out who could make a case they should be in. Most of the bubble teams will be from the SEC and BIG.

team from the ACC and Big 12 Combined. So if it's the Big 12 getting one in at-large, none for ACC and vice versa. And that's a maybe, it could be all at-large SEC and B1G.
