We don’t need to overhaul our defense, we need someone who knows exactly how it was run to run it exactly like it was run. Outside influence is needed when something is broke and our Defense is the only thing that wasn’t this year!

....did the second in command pick BV's brain enough and have a great grasp of Brent's method of madness and adjustment process such that he is a good facsimile?

This is the 2nd best program in the nation the last 6 years. If Clemson can’t attract a top candidate with coordinator experience, then something has gone wrong.
If we are going to continue with T.E. as offensive coordinator, then we cannot experiment on the defensive side of the ball

Absolutely. We pay our coordinators more than anyone else k. The country, and we consistently win. We should not be settling for an internal hire when we can money ship any DC is the country.

Bringing in a new coordinator from outside that wants to run his own system would be the experiment.
Promoting from within for continuity is the safe path.

It’s not so much how the defense is ran as in game play calling. There is an art to that and experience is key for a program like Clemson.
