Probably headed to Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, Auburn.
Looking for NIL money.
I wish these types were just looking for a good football program: "sadly, I don't think that's the #1 thing on their mind"!

Agreed. Kids I played soccer against in Europe were earning $4,000/month at age 13-14. Why shouldn’t college players? It’s pro sports. Because it breaks with tradition, I understand how it may be difficult for people to understand how it is actually pro sports, and when you look at how the players get scholarships, and it gets much harder when we ask, who are amateur athletic stadiums larger than professional football stadiums? Clemson’s stadium seats 82,000. Carolina Panthers only 75,000.
European sports models are best. You have a youth system that feeds and develops players from smaller clubs to larger clubs and from youth teams to reserve teams and then the pro team. Salaries escalate based on position within the club and the league decisions of the clubs.
That’s an unpopular position for us Americans bc it breaks the model created originally within our collegiate sports.
It IS possible to realize our collegiate football is actually professional and has been for coaches and the NCAA bureaucracy for decades. Things are changing now. The model broke. Now the pieces are falling into place.

The problem with this approach is the sport becomes based on dollars. If you look at European football as you discussed. Only 5 teams have won a Champions League title since 2010. Five teams. Which five teams do you think will win the NCAAF title from 2025-2035 if we continue down this path? That's not an outcome I desire to see.

In short, I agree. Stop the facade of these kids main objective being an education. It isn't for many of the top level players. The problem is and side note why the ACC is so aggravating: "football drives the bus of athletic programs"! Basketball pays for itself; but most if not all the other sports cost these athletic programs money. This is why some of these schools who have no shot of a NC keep going at it i.m.o. Because of the money it generates in order to pay for the sports "they actually like"! Just my opinion.
I like the idea of a farm system. Kids can go to tennis and play at early ages. Golf. Pretty much anything else except football. Why not have them pursue it fully from the get go?

We have to stop using NIL as an excuse…

Like we’re not engaged in it. Trent Howard said last year that there were “multiple” Clemson players with 6 figure NIL deals at that time.

Some of you act like we can't compete in NIL.

Our starting QB this year supposedly got a million dollars in NIL endorsements.
We have other players on our roster now who have NIL deals.

Interesting that one of the best UNC assistants is their db coach. I would say this is about NIL and getting away from being toasted by Cole Turner.
