This talk of Dabo hiring his heir apparent in Riley is so premature and ridiculous.
The guy hasn’t even called his first play, and some of you are ready for Dabo to retire and pass the baton.
Now we have every reason to believe he will be great here at Clemson, and he’s got the Broyle’s award and CFP playoff appearance and win to prove it.
But there is a heck of a lot more to being a head coach. And I think Dabo has another good 10 years in the tank. And I’m telling you right now, I wouldn’t trade Dabo for anyone. He is as perfect a fit for Clemson as we will ever see.

Haven't seen much talk about Riley being Dabo's heir and ready for Dabo to retire....like at all.
Where ya getting this?
I agree Dabo has at least 10 more years in him...more if this portal/NIL stuff settles down.

You know that is, for practical purposes, an unanswerable question.
For example … “How do you know that Dabo and Shave Beaver do not already have a plan in place for Beaver to take over for Dabo in a few years? Dabo and Beaver have publicly expressed admiration for each other from both the coaching and friendship perspectives.”
No one can practically ‘prove’ that this secret pact is not in place, even if (for public consumption) Dabo and Beaver would deny it if asked by the media.

Of course it is. Riley may have 3 or 4 different jobs by the time Dabo retires and if he is as good a coach as his brother, may be making more than Dabo.

Their biggest nightmare is Dabo leaving us. They are scared because of Dabo’s comments in the past about not wanting to coach anymore if players got paid.
They fear that Dabo will leave and we will hire someone else and our program will falter and we will be back to the Tommy West days.
Riley represents a bright young coach who reminds them in some ways of a young Dabo. Believing that he could learn from Dabo and maintain our current standard of play is soothing for them.
I say let them enjoy it. They can sleep better at night now.
