I think he will end up playing in the NFL. All of that talent he naturally has will come out when he figures it all out. Maybe less pressure being at Oregon State and a different offense. But seeing some of these other QBs that transferred and ended up transforming into another player makes me think it’s all possible for DJ.

Burrow, Fields, Nix(?) - won’t say Rattler - but there’s a few off the top…

Burrow and Fields did not transform. They couldn’t get playing time so they left.
Playing time was not DJU’s problem.
Rattler had one good game; a large portion of their fan base wanted him benched mid season.

Fair enough on Rattler. He's got a lot to prove, still. In the Vandy/UT games he combined for 9 TDs 0 INTs. On the year he threw 16 TDs and 11 INTs. So the other 10 games were bad...really bad. Against Clem he threw 2 critical INTs, and hit another Clem defender in the numbers (can't remember who) but he just didn't catch it. The difference was he hit a couple of passes in huge situations to make up for it. He did enough to overcome his mistakes, but I wouldn't call it a good game. He did what Dabo was hoping DJ would do.
DJ will be fine in a different setting. The talent is there...I'm wondering if it's a developmental deal on the coaching side. I don't know much about Streeter, but that didn't strike me as a home run hire. How he called the USC game was certainly questionable.

1) Jalen Hurts - Was mediocre at Alabama - Runner up to guess who, Joe Burrow
2) Joe Burrow - Didn’t start at Ohio State - Won Heisman at LSU
3) Cam Newton -Didn’t really play for Florida - Won Heisman at LSU
4) Baker Mayfield - Walk-on at Texas Tech - Walk-on transfer to Oklahoma and won Heisman
Given that DJ was a former 5 star QB who played at what could become QBU in the next couple years (with how NFL QBs are doing), this is possible.

I'm pulling for DJ because the man deserves some success but he's shown me nothing to think he's going to become on par with those QB's listed. It's going to take a turn around of the millennia to get on that list. Could he do it? Yeah of course! Will he? Doubtful. I'll just take him being drafted at all as a success.

None of those guys transformed. They all moved because of playing time, other than Hurts. And Hurts was not "mediocre" at Alabama...he was very good, but Tua was just better.
Again, none of that is not what was holding DJ back.

at Bama. Like TL16, he won a Natty as a freshman. That is the opposite of mediocre.
DJU is a fine young man, and I wish him well, but he will not be anything special at OSU.

Jalen Hurts never beat DW4. He lost the NC to DW4 and HR13 when he was a freshman. He did beat Kelly Bryant in the semis as a sophmore.

If he can't get the mental part of the game down, his talent won't carry him. Teams are going to have a hard time believing in his self-confidence so he really has a long road to prove otherwise.
I'm pulling for him but I'm also being realistic after what we saw this year. No coach is going to coddle him like Dabo did.

Three Heisman winners "transformed"

Cam, Baker and Kyler.
I saw Baker and Kyler play before they transferred. Baker wasn't very good at all and Kyler was terrible. Baker did not impress me at all at Texas Tech and his ceiling seemed very low. I thought for sure Kyler was a complete bust and would make the obvious choice to leave football for baseball.
There are others.

Not why folks are still posting about DJ. We have 8 other transfers with hardly a peep about they yet a constant trickle about DJ. He is gone and wish him the best. Hope new scenery will allow him to get his mind right but his situation is totally different than any other on the list

that the problems that plagued him at Clemson are going to suddenly disappear once he gets to Oregon State. Playing QB at a high level necessitates having both the physical and mental tools. I think DJ lacks the latter to the extent necessary to become an NFL QB. Just my .02 cents and I certainly hope he proves me wrong.

bad habits began to sneak back in. He is a turnover machine, and not sure he will make it in the NFL. I think he is a class act all the way, and hope I am wrong. Good kid.

Dj's biggest problem is between his ears - and he has had three years to deal with it.
It he couldn't handle the pressure at Clemson, what makes you think he can handle the 10x pressure of the NFL.
I hope he enjoys his year at OSDU - cause it is his last year playing football.

If he "figures it all out" he could certainly play in the NFL, just like about 100 other college QBs.
