Clemson/South Carolina prediction
Nov 25, 2014, 12:48 PM
|
|
I probably won't be around much the rest of this week, so I'll get this out of the way now.
I think South Carolina has a coaching advantage with Steve Spurrier over Dabo. To me, that has been proven over the last few years. Clemson will fold if things go bad early.
That said, I think Clemson has a considerable talent edge this year. South Carolina's defense has maybe looked a little better the last couple of weeks, but I still think it's a huge liability. Clemson's defense is elite.
There's an interesting battle of strengths...Clemson's D-Line vs. South Carolina's O-Line. Who will win that battle will go a long way in determining the winner.
Obviously the Clemson QB situation matters. I personally believe Watson will play, even if he has to just sit in the pocket and throw.
Unfortunately for South Carolina, Watson doing that will highlight their weakness. They haven't been able to sniff a QB with a pass rush, or cover receivers.
Clemson is able to get on the board early and stop the run, and that will allow them to unleash the hounds on Thompson, making his life difficult. Clemson wins 28-13.

USC lacks many things on both sides of the ball, but they make up for it with being physical...
Plain and simple, if we play physical like we did vs LSU, UGA, or Auburn, we win handily...GO TO BE PHYSICAL though...Carolina is much bigger than we are on the lines

SC has played well on offense at times.

But they only put up 23 on Florida, in overtime, and 20 on Missouri at home. Clemson's defense is as good or better than those two.

The biggest thing that has been proven....
Nov 25, 2014, 12:57 PM
|
|
over the last few years is that $CU has done a much better job of taking care of the ball.
Fifteen turnovers by Clemson compared to just three by $CU has been the biggest difference maker.

YES.....YES......YES....If we had only 3 to's, it's untelling what the 5 year outcome fould have been....coaching has nothing to do, our players have to hold onto the ball....

In my opinion from watching the games...I think coaching

has something to do with the turnovers. I've seen Dabo and the other coaches really tighten up in this game the last few years, and I believe the team has followed suit. Turnovers have been one result of that.

I don't think Dabo is a loser. I think he's great and wish he was South Carolina's coach instead of Spurrier. But I do think Spurrier has outcoached him the last few years.

.. that is goes to overtime somehow. Carolina has had 2 of it's last three go to overtime. Seems to be trending.

Great post. Good points.

I have two keys to this game for SC to win. The SC offensive line stopping the Clemson defensive line, and the SC defensive line finally finding a pass rush.
The SC defense looked better against Florida. However, Florida hasn't been able to throw all year, and that played right into one of biggest weaknesses SC has, which is rushing the passer.
The SC O-line vs. the Clemson D-line will be a fun match-up, but I think Clemson wins it more than they lose. Likewise, I think a Clemson O-line that has been average for much of the year finds the going easier against an SC pass rush that has also been average.
I actually think SC scores a little more than 13, but I think Clemson breaks 30. I have it 35-24.
