They released the first 7 minutes of the movie as a teaser

which was smart, because except for ONE other scene/musical stinger, that was the best part of the movie.

Even if the 2nd and 3rd don't hit the mark, I agree

they are still considerably better, from a pure spectacle standpoint, than much of what we get today. The first is still a masterpiece and the feeling I had watching it for the first time is still the feeling I chase and hope for when I watch any new blockbuster.

I probably just shouldn't reply, but I can't help it.

My son asked to watch them all so a month or two we went through all three. Man, I thought they had aged soooooooo poorly. First one was a good flick, but even the special effects that were cutting edge at the time seemed sort of drawn out and overwrought now.

Trilogy goes off a cliff after the first one though...at least it had a good ###### and interesting plot. 2 and 3? Yeeeeeeeesh. Horrible, just horrible.

Don’t you unironically like Marvel movies?

Probably 25% of em are enjoyable, but I'm not grading them

on any serious cinematic curve like I might The Matrix. Don't get me wrong, it was flat-out badassss when it came out and I was as blown away by the first one as anyone (still remember meh-ing 2 and 3 even when new, but I digress). The problem watching now is you realize that in many long stretches of the movie, that portion of the skript exists solely to show off the new special effects technology, rather than the special effects technology enhancing the skript. Now that the technology is commonplace, those same fight scenes that were jaw-dropping then are a little tedious now.

I mostly just appreciate how creative, fresh, and fun the trilogy is. All we get now are retreads and lazy offerings

It was that. From a modern standpoint, a movie with a

Similar “feel” that I think is a lot better flick is Inception.

The Burly Brawl was panned at the time of release

and looked horrible so I have to imagine it has aged even worse. (Just to be clear on what I'm talking about, it's from 'Reloaded' where Neo fights all the Smith clones in the courtyard.)

But, I still think the fight between Smith/Neo at the end of the 3rd one is a better "superhero" epic fight than any we've seen since. And all the fights from the first movie still standup in my opinion.

So, I think it's a mixed bag.
