I even found the manual. Got the air filter and spark plug numbers, but no Earl filter.
Here are the three most common oil filters for Briggs and Stratton Motors.

It wouldn't surprise me if they're all interchangeable. Use the oil filter cross reference link and find yourself a fram or whatever brand that they have at the walmarts or autozones. I bet it can be had for about 5 clams.

Not really. Seems to be a different one everytime I go by the shop where mowers was purchased. Twin cylinder 23 HP Briggs is about all I got.

You might could save a few bucks finding a cross reference, but I'm not going to dive deep in to the research of you aren't willing to get any further information on your end.
It's hard to help someone who won't help themselves.

Engine models 400000 intek extended life series manual does not list a part number for an oil filter. The Snapper manual doesn't list it either. Recommends weight for oil but nada for filter.
Existing one is 2" high and 3 wide.
I'll visit an auto supply or lowes.

Spin on filters are crazy expensive right now (for the last year or so) and very scarce in lots of sizes. I'm buying literal hundreds at the time and am seeing lead times in months not days. So this is probably what you're seeing. I would be wary of dscounted filters for the time being. They are likely to be either manufactured poorly so they don't fit well or the filter media/capability is likely incorrect.
