What is rock bottom for us?

Have we hit it yet? Do we slowly improve to salvage a bowl bid? Or is it a losing record capped off by a loss to Shane?
At this moment, I am torn between if I want THIS to be rock bottom…or things just going completely off the rails.
For some reason, I feel like it we turn it around now- even marginally- the foundational problems won’t get fixed. This program needs a complete overhaul, and I don’t think that happens unless we truly have a disastrous season.

You're probably correct. It will take a disaster to get the weak AD to do his job and also get the Dabo cult to put down the kool-aid.

Who really knows for sure? This level of performance was totally unexpected. A veteran team performing so poorly over four games. You can see how upset and perplexed Sweeney appears. We are fsu 2024. It looks bad for rest of season. The offense is unable to play well and finish drives successfully. The defense appears weaker than 2024 even with a new dc. So coaching and recruiting are part of this. Our opponents see the Clemson weaknesses and attack them with the game plan. Each game the opponents bring the fight to Clemson. Clemson falls behind and has to comeback. I see a mentally and physically weak team. He’ll, last year the citadel rushed for 300 yards against us. Talent has to be acquired and developed to change this. Clemson has talent on paper but it. Has to perform. There are issues and the season has gone sideways! It can get better but a 9 or 10 win season is a pipe dream now. Our qb talking about Syracuse faking injuries is sad and consistent with a losing mentality. That mentality and weak play is difficult to overcome. This group was overrated and is unlikely to flip the ###### as in prior years.

We won't know until its over. I don't think we go 2-10. Hopefully a bowl game, but what level of failure will it take to trigger a demand for change from the top? What do they consider rock bottom?

If Dabo doesn't make major changes with coaches and his philosophy of the game it will be death by a thousand cuts to Clemson's football program.

Yes, but Dabo makes changes over time. He has changed coaches over the years. However, the college game has changed to a semi pro game. Not sure Dabo can or wants to run a successful program in this environment. The portal can be used to address roster needs and needs to used more. In short, you have build and run it like a pro team. Maybe the reality is our talent is good not elite with little position depth. The mental and physical toughness is lacking. 2025 is at a crossroads so too is Clemson football.

Rock bottom is different for every program. When the Coots hit rock bottom they lose every game and have done so a couple times in recent history. When Georgia hit rock bottom, they go 6-6 or 7-5. When Clemons last hit rock bottom, we were 3-8. As for attitude and effort status, we are at rock bottom now. We are the butt of jokes and memes everywhere you look.Depends on whether we fight back or just lie on the bottom from here on out.

I had hoped we'd hit the "change mark" several times during the past 5 years, but we never did.........maybe this year is it. It seems to be to the fans, but is it for Dabo???....

I'd say this year is going to be rock bottom. I'm struggling to see more than 4 wins right now and even that is a toss up. 2-10 is not a farfetched possibility. We haven't even got to the meat and potatoes or our schedule yet, that's the more concerning part. That mid-October to November stretch is going to be so bad with this current team. I don't see how we could field a worse team honestly.

Losing to Furman. IMO that would be the nail in the coffin of Dabo's fantasyland.

Worst-case scenario right now is

probably something like 4-8 this year, lose most of this team after the season (definitely happening), and next years squad is even worse.
Hopefully when we turn this roster over we can get some hungry kids that play hard in here, but it's very concerning that a group of kids that Dabo recruited and had in his program for 3-4 years are giving this kind of effort. Its tough to be a "developmental" program when your players dont develop in any way - physically or mentally. I think it says something that our best player so far, and also the one that always plays the hardest, is a transfer from a Purdue team that won like 2 games last year.
The question that was often asked here was "who could the staff have gotten out of the portal that would be better than the players we already have?" I think it turns out that list was very, very long.

At this point I'd rather lose with a bunch of a lesser players who give 110% effort and just aren't good enough than pay $20+ million to this bunch of losers who just don't care and don't try--Parker, Woods, Moore, Miller, Hampton, Terrell, etc. Save the money and spend it on basketball and baseball if this the product we are going to get on Saturdays.

I’d rather lose with kids who have everything to gain than watch this team who act like they have nothing to lose.

a losing season and no significant personnel changes (team or coaching) will likely be rock bottom. Because if not then NEXT year will be a 4~5 win season likely as not and you're looking at ALL of the mystique from the championship runs being gone.
I think we have tinkered around the edges for long enough; there's something systemic that's wrong with the program. There are a few coaches I would keep, both coordinators for example*, but then let them pick the guys underneath them and give them free reign... VERY PUBLICLY... to run what they want. Also, I would let guys know that we're changing the way we approach talent and player retention. We may hate it, but the ground has moved under us and the 'til graduation do we part', a real asset to us in the past, just isn't anymore. I would let everyone know that every job is open and we're looking in the portal for a replacement if you're not getting the job done.
*Not popular perhaps seeing as Garret is the scapegoat for a lot of people, but when I see the offensive plays broken down there are people open, Cade just isn't seeing the field or delivering the ball. And that's really all you can ask from an OC scheme-wise.

We aren't even close to the bottom yet. 2-10 is the bottom with Furman being our only win remaining. And if we get anywhere close to 2-10 you will see players quit, players opt out and hit the portal early, coaches stop trying, etc. so these 7-10 point losses could become 30 point blowouts. The recruiting class falls apart, the next several recruiting classes start taking on water... I mean there's a lot that can happen and this bye week could not come at a better time. If we come out of the bye week and there isnt' a serious change in mindset this is going to get very, very bad.

Right now is rock bottom

Losing streak at home, losing streak against other power 4 conferences, worst start since 04 (I think), a coach with a massive buyout and years left in which he will not change. Zero hope for this team til at least 2030.

Also, 2030 is the year everyone seems to be targeting for this huge conference realignment/breakaway. Since most of the conferences' tv contracts are up or have opt outs in 2030.
So Clemson is entering crunch time when we need to show that we bring eyeballs and value to the mega-conference, but we are bottoming out value-wise at the worst possible time.

Unless we have lots of money and don’t care buy us a team or continue on as we doing and still have the love for Clemson. I hate 1-3 but I know the players r Clemson men. Finally college football is over and gone. I wouldn’t trade Dabo for anyone
