One Pavia in the portal vs. the 100s that don’t make any splash. The portal isn’t magic, it can be useful but the idea that every portal get works is just ignoring all the failures from it too.

Vandy picked up a top-quality QB in the portal with ZERO history as a football program; meanwhile Clemson, who has TWO NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS in the last ten years, ignores the portal and instead takes highly-rated QBs out of high school and squanders them down to nothing after years in the program… is that what you’re saying?

One Pavia so you focus on him… and ignore the 100s that don’t amount to anything. You are focusing on an outlier and trying to act like that is the norm.

The point is you have to at least try. It’s a better gamble getting an already-developed, mature 23 year old QB from Iowa State than a 4* high school player who may or may not pan out. Recent history has shown this.

He was JC QB to start, no D1 offers so obviously he was a late bloomer. Most the time, #1 QB recruit will be a better bet than a JC guy.

They will point at an outlier and ignore the general rule that high ranked recruits usually will be the best bet.
