I didn't read all 29 pages; does it explicitly state AAU

I’d say so according to this.
I personally believe the goal is to be wanted by both the SEC & the Big 10, it gives us leverage to go where we want to instead of where he have to go.
I hope if we have to choose it’s the SEC because we have a rich history with many of the teams & we could drive to most places.

but I have absolutely no desire to attend games in Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, Minnesota or Nebraska during the months of October and November. I was in Michigan this past weekend and it was cold and snowing.

MUCH better than the atrocious weather we have here. So, not sure why everyone acts like football season is in the dead of winter and all the games are played in the arctic circle.

Did you go to the ND game last year? I did. I also sat through my son playing HS football in NW PA. Been there, done that. Fall in that part of the country can be ugly. I’ll take upstate SC any time.

if there is a southern pod this could be worked around

lets say there are 4 pods of 6, you play your 5 pod teams in the South every year- 3 home 2 away or vice versa. Those games could be scheduled anytime. 3 in September when hot and 2 in Nov or vice versa You play an entire other pod of 6 each year(could be 3-5 games if more non-conf is desired) - those 6 games would be played mid Sept to end of October. 3 at home and 3 away. So you might have 1-2 somewhat cold games a year if you are playing a norther pod(kind of like BC away or Pitt, SU just happens to be in a Dome otherwise we would essentially have already had that). Keep in mind that one of those pods would likely be West Coast so on the year you are aligned with them, there wouldn't really be cold weather games.

Goal has much to do with sports though. I can see it being a secondary benefit but the real business of being a school is actually being a school. Relative to the billions annually budgeted for academics at Clemson the millions generated by athletics is small potatoes. I assume this initiative is a plan to become a top 30 university and any impact to athletics is gravy.

I agree. This is primarily an academic decision.***

ACC GOR deal. And, if Clemson is still in the ACC by then, we will have already fallen way out of the national spotlight, being over a half a BILLION dollars cumulative behind the SEC and BIG teams.

after joining the AAU. I think it would be to show a solid game plan toward becoming an attractive candidate for membership now. It is not a rule that B1G teams be AAU members (see Nebraska), but it’s clearly important to the members.

I believe so, but I think they were AAU when they joined though.

Hopefully it’s so we’re wanted by two conferences and we have leverage.
I hope we choose the SEC.

Good, we should've done this years ago.

We are academically qualified for it, and there is no reason not to pursue it.
Hopefully the administration/BOT push to increase student enrollment, and thus compromise the acceptance rate at Clemson, won't hurt our application.
