If TCU and USC lose a game, Clemson is in the playoff.

Assuming Clemson goes 12-1. Doesn’t matter if you think we deserve or not….it’s happening.
If only one of the above scenarios happen, Clemson still has a good shot because the playoff has NEVER put a 1 loss non division champ over a 1 loss conference champ.
Now, Tenn is the darling this year. So it wouldn’t surprise me. But it has never happened before. Clemson needs to take care of business and dare the committee to leave them out.

Believe it's very likely that USC drops one to either UCLA or Notre Dame (or both). However, either Baylor or ISU would have to catch TCU sleeping to pull an upset. Think Baylor has the best shot in their house but who knows.

I do not trust any voter or committee to be totally unbiased when it comes to the sec. I am, however, in agreement with your point that losses by TCU and the Real USC - along with an ACC Championship AND a 13-1 record doe put us in the CFP.
While that also (probably) means a CFP Semi in Atlanta against UGA. Well, you can’t win it if you aren’t in it, right? And let’s not forget Bama for our third natty. We had no chance.
GO TIGERS!!!!
obtw TigerRam81, TCU still has a date with K State in the the Big12 Championship. A team who they were losing to - and came back to beat when the ‘cats were down to their third string QB… there’s hope!

That's true. KSU is solid and could absolutely hand them that loss.

Tend to agree with Caddie. Clemson wins out and they are likely in over Tennessee. It would be a nail biter though. We really need UNC to win out to make the argument stronger. Who has Tennessee beaten? LSU? FSU beat them and we beat FSU. Alabama? 2 loss Alabama team that should have 2 more losses. Florida??? Kentucky???

Funny how SC may have a say in this since they play TN and us the next 2 weeks. You expect TN to roll all over them and they will definitely be looking to create style points. A week later we will have to look really good against SC to keep up the pace for consideration.

The CFP uses performances against common opponents as one of their big criteria. I worry if our offense can stack up as many points as that TYenn offense.
If USC cannot beat them, I at least hope they can score a buncvh and keep the margin of victory down.

The real USC will probably lose (the fake USC will certainly lose), but I don't think TCU will slip up. But here's to hoping!!! Go Tigers!!! Beat Miami!!!

Ran some numbers on this earlier. Assuming Georgia, Ohio State and Tennessee win out, those three are locks. Fourth spot would be between Michigan (11-1), TCU (12-1) and Clemson (12-1). FPI likes Utah and Kansas State to win their conferences. In that scenario the FPI gives Clemson the worst % chance. However, if UNC keeps winning and it’s a huge win, I think we’d be over Michigan. It would come down to the TCU/Clemson debate, and I think them having just lost would give us the very narrow edge.

OSU fans on Eleven Warriors are concerned

about this exact scenario. So are Tennessee fans.
If we and Tennessee win out and TCU and USC both lose a game, both the Tigers and Vols could get in.
More likely, only one of the two get in.
That makes the committee choice between the high scoring Vols who wiped out the SEC West champion (LSU), but in a likeky Georgia rematch in one hand...and a potential 12-1 conference champion.
The worst case is TCU, USC, and Clemson all being 1-loss conference champions, Tennessee wiping out South Carolina and Vanderbilt (likely), and a close Michigan--OSU game.
That likely gets USC and either TCU or Tennessee in and lots of fans screaming for the expanded playoffs.
If we had that this year, the hype would be muted and the ACC could get two teams in . So would the BIG. The SEC would get 3, maybe 4.
Under that scenario, we might have a first round road game in Knoxville. I'm happy we don't have that issue this year. Tennessee fan light it up, and our defense isn't nearly as good as UGa, their only loss.

with their only loss to UGA ... they are in ...
Good news would be that the committee would almost be forced to put them in at #4 against UGA in the semis
