Re: If Purnell wanted to come back....

Jan 28, 2014, 6:16 PM

I thought Purnell did a pretty darn good job during his time here, but he burned his bridge to Clemson when he left out of the blue, leaving nothing in the cupboard to build around. Part of the reason we struggle so much now can be directly attributed to him.

administration. Fans would be happy, but, there is a chance the team might struggle due to players being recruited for BB's system not translating to OP's system.

Which would be fine, but might get the fans mad at him

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Has he won yet at DePaul?

Jan 28, 2014, 6:27 PM

So no thank you.

Go get Smart or Dawkins or Ammaker or Marshall

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I do not want to stir up an argument but

Jan 28, 2014, 7:30 PM

Marshall has done a great job RECORD wise at Wichita ST. If you look at the schedule they have not played a ranked opponent this year. They played a very weak schedule last year. I know they made the final 4 but when you can spend your whole season developing your team against weak a schedule you can go a lot farther. You can play kids that would not play in a ACC schedule. Missouri St is the only team that has given them a scare but the shockers won in OT.

Sure, I'd love for OPIE to come back to Clemson.

Jan 28, 2014, 7:10 PM

So I could fire the mathaflaker! I'd have fired him years before he quit.

CU would NOT take him back

Jan 29, 2014, 10:40 AM

there is a reason he left in the middle of the night with no warning.

and he wouldn't be an upgrade over what we have now.

so - to answer your questions - no and no.

Re: If Purnell wanted to come back....

Jan 29, 2014, 10:48 AM

He hasn't done anything here at DePaul, so why would Clemson want him back? I wouldn't hire him to coach a little league team after the way he left the Tigers.

Re: If Purnell wanted to come back....

Jan 29, 2014, 10:51 AM

HELL NO!

There are to many Coaches to choose from to retread one.

If the K State Coach is successful at being a retread then he will be the first.

Petrino and U of L are trying the same thing.

Re: If Purnell wanted to come back....

Jan 29, 2014, 11:12 AM

I haven't read any responses to this yet but the only coach I want back is RICK BARNES.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Just saying...

Jan 29, 2014, 11:25 AM

I totally understand Clemson isn't going land a BIG NAME coach at Clemson.(in Bask) But we do need to hire a young, energetic coach. Who can develop players, recruit and plays a style suited to be successful in the ACC---cause the current 1...SURE ISN'T.

Re: Just saying...

Jan 29, 2014, 1:20 PM

He's right on the cusp, though. We're 1 or 2 guys away from being a consistent upper-half ACC program.

I disagree, however, that we won't land a big name basketball coach. If SCU can do it in football, Clemson can do it on the basketball court! It's only a matter of time.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I NEVER WANTED HIM TO LEAVE, BUT...

Jan 29, 2014, 11:18 AM

I wouldn't give him a 2nd chance. But, with that
said. I would like to see another hire with a similar
style.

For me (w/ BB)...if we don't make some sort of post season
tourn. that's the breaking point.
