Rumor has it that Caslen has switched over and now claims to be a Calibama fan.

Most accurate description of UofSC: “This place sucks so bad,” Caslen wrote to then-S.C. State University President James Clark on May 9. “I don’t know how anyone can stand it.”
The fact it came from a former President of coot U is beyond glorious.

That's what he gets for not being a member of TNet. He would have been informed of the dumpster fire awaiting anyone associated with that place.

His hiring from influence by the Governor was typical

of what they have faced sitting next door to the Statehouse.
That the Governor sits as an ex-officio member of the BOT is a major flaw in of itself.
Regardless, it's difficult to understand why a retired U.S. Army General would lower his dignity to respond to the criticism, as he has. He should have resigned, left the state, stayed off his computer and politely responded, "No comment" to media...the type of attitude the U.S. Army would have expected from an Officer, certainly in its highest ranks.
My friends, I can tell you this: most don't realize how lucky Clemson has been to have been located in our present site,,.away from the meddlers and intruders in our statehouse...a fact that most Carolina people will express.

Great comment hartins. When I lived in Texas, people would ask me what was wrong with the University of SC and I would give them the same answer you just gave. As long as the politicians have their hands in everything that goes on down there, it will always be a mess and in constant turmoil. Caslen is right about 2 things: 1) the place is a mess and 2) he should never have gone there.

of it but for Caslen to continue making negative comments about USuC to the public is somewhat unusual. I guess Caslen's not looking to continue a career in academic administration as he is poisoning that well pretty good right now. He must really have a burr in his saddle with the USuC folks and his experience there - kind of going scorched earth on the coots.
As much as I like seeing USuC humiliated - especially in sports, at a certain point this whole Caslen affair and the inability of USuC to hire a new President reflects badly on the State of South Carolina.
