If ever granted the honor to run down THE HILL

Aug 7, 2013, 10:37 AM

I would probably think about not falling --- but I cannot comprehend that anyone's first thought would be to mock someone else who did --- sort of like not laughing in the fifth grade over 50 years ago when Lance put a tack on Gerald's chair just as Gerald was sitting down.

Next time you're at a game, afterwards, run down it.***

Does the team practice it? Has the team ever had a big spill running down the hill? Can you imagine if one of the first few guys fell then half the team fell over them.. that would be embarrassing.

I would imagine the coots would be playing that video 100 times a day if it had happened so I guess it hasnt.

I've heard before, and was told in CU101 that the team practices running down, so the freshman don't eff it up.

While at Clemson I was a member of the Veteran's Club...

...and was able to run down before a game during Military Appreciation day. The whole time I kept thinking, "don't fall down, don't fall down."

Well, I ran down the Hill at home games for three

years and will tell you it's more ominous looking down from the top....Even more frightening was the thought of a horde of beasts charging down behind. On one rundown I began slipping but was quickly grabbed and steadied by Wayne Mass. Later, thanking him, he laughed and said he was sure I was going to be trampled, so he gave the quick assist.

To this day the memories of standing atop the Hill awaiting Tiger Band to blare out Tiger Rag while thousands of Clemson folks were standing, clapping and cheering are my most poignant. I wish every Clemson student and fan could experience it....There ain't nothing like it!

One more good season will end these snide comments.***
