If Dabo continues to wait to announce Sammy's punishment...

at some point the media is going to jump on it and make a mountain out of what is perhaps just a mole hill for now. I'm surprised Dinich hasn't brought it to everyone's attention. This subject is going to be like a sore festering. I'm sure Dabo knows what he's doing, but he's pushing the window pretty far IMO. We'll see, but if we're starting to discuss it more, you can bet the media is going to pounce on it soon. Tick-tock Dabo.

I'm fine with him announcing it seconds before the Auburn game. Might as well make them prepare for him.

He already said he is in no hurry to make a decision. ESPN is more likely to forget about it than to make a big deal out of it. Like all things off the field in college football no one cares once play beings.

Only problem is, Watkins will surely be among the topics of conversation during the off-season, and leading up to the season as the "talking heads" break down teams and players that are front-runners for awards. A those type of players having some sort of in-season punishments/suspensions pending over their heads will most certainly be brought up as they will impact what that player can do his season.
And Clemson as a team will be brought up as well, coming off of their ACC title: will they be a contender for a repeat, etc. Having key players missing games to suspensions will impact that.
IMO, the pending punishment will have plenty of opportunities for being discussed over and over heading into the fall....

They will likely forget about it until our first TV appearance. And then it will be the only thing talked about all night. It will be mentioned more than Roth's name was mentioned during the CWS.

Well the punishment will be determined by what Sammy

It is unlikely....

that Dabo will publicly address Sammy's specific punishment until the week of the Auburn game. If that's a problem for the talking heads...TOUGH $#!7 !!!!!

What does it matter what the outsiders say? Strategically speaking, it is better Auburn doesn't know and spends a lot of time gameplanning for Sammy. Sammy likely doesn't play in the game but no reason to let Auburn know until kickoff.

Sammy's punishment began immediately after the incident and the COACH is continuing to monitor his progress. I guess Dabo chose not to inform you and the media what he was doing and I am perfectly fine with that. At some point in time additional penalties may be given to Sammy but don't expect it to be soon. Perhaps you can continue to bring the subject up every day and maybe you can create a problem for Clemson that doesn't exists. Anything for the Tigers. Right???

Did you miss it? I thought everyone knew Sammy punishment:..

Sammy is to sit on the bench for half the Auburn game, whenever the Clemson defense or kicking team is on the field.
I thought everyone agreed a half-game would be sufficient punishment.

Frankly I don't think he has to say anything about it ever..

if he doesn't want to.
In fact, if he said, "this is a confidential personnel matter between a player and me and I am not going to discuss it publicly. Sammy knows what his punishment is and he will comply with it, and that's all you need to know." I would be Ok with that, primarily becasue it would really pi$$-off the media.

I have to agree with you on this one. It really is nobody's business if Sammy gets a punishment or not. Who gives a rats rear end what the media or rival teams rant about. The first ko return or reception he takes to the house the media will be back on his jock just like last year.

Dabo's commented on the situation in regards to punishment
Jun 28, 2012, 6:05 PM

for Sammy and I think that's why the media is giving him a break. He said he set forth some things Sammy has to accomplish over the summer and depending on how Sammy handles it, his punishment can go 1 of 2 ways. Dabo also insinuated that he doesn't foresee a scenario where Sammy doesn't miss a game, so I think that is a big part of why the media leaving it alone right now.
