The respect I have developed for Saban over the last 6-8 years will increase even more.
I was a lifelong Dolphin fan and lost all respect for Saban when he screwed them. Watching him over the last 6-8 years has changed my mind somewhat. If Scott, after what I’m sure would be lengthy discussion with him, decides ti go to work with him, I would have to believe Saban made a huge impression on him and I have a lot of respect for Jeff’s judgment of people.
That being said, my initial response was “I’ll eat my hat”.

offense to a coach that was just fired. There would be so much uproar. Maybe if he was on staff a year, then moved into the position. Maybe Cliff Kingberry, but not to a former coach of South Florida. I just don't see it happening.

If you look at the list of candidates they are considering, I'd say Jeff would be pretty far down the list. However, a lot depends on how interested some of those candidates ahead of him really are.

Scott could not even lock down the Tampa Bay area...a hotbed of college recruiting and actually ruined a pretty good program...we need him at FSU not at CCC!

You’re actually judging the ability for a coach to recruit high profile recruits based on his ability to get those players to sign with South Florida?
Also, it’s completely stupid to judge a coaches ability to be a good OC based on their record as a head coach. There’s been a ton of great OC and DC that failed as head coaches.
I’m also not sure how he ruined a pretty good program at South Florida as you say. South Florida had a losing record in 5 out of 9 seasons before Scott took the job including 4-8 the season before he started.

I always believed Jeff was a Clemson man at heart and his home seemed to be in Clemson. But I do not personally know him. Riley was a big hire and I’m sure it will bring us success, but Scott could be the long term man after Riley may inevitably leave to be a HC.
