Three reasons why leaving the ACC now is a bad idea

Nov 19, 2012, 12:45 PM

#1 Notre Dame
#5 Florida St
#9 Clemson

Yes, I know Notre Dame is only a partial, but they're committed to playing 5 ACC games a year, and after the BCS dies in 2014, the pressure builds to join a conference. Add to that UNC, Miami, Va Tech, Ga Tech, and NC State, which are all teams that should be in the top 25 most years, you're looking at a very solid football conference. I'd rather be at the top looking down than, say in South Carolina's shoes, in the middle looking up.

If anything, ND's 5 ACC games will HURT them in the BCS***

Most of you.

How's that... they've played the crappiest of the ACC this

year and they're still #1

Point well taken!!! and should have lost to new ACC team!!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Disagree. If we were undefeated right now we would be

either #1 or #2 and in line to play for the national championship.

Ohio State of the mighty B1G is undefeated and they're

at #4 in the AP behind 1-loss Bama and UGAy.

If Ohio State were eligible for the BCS, then they'd be in

line for the national championship.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Would they? Computers have Nebraska 12 and

Nov 19, 2012, 1:25 PM

Michigan at 19. The B1G is not representing well on the field or in the polls. The AP is free to vote for whomever, yet they're still #4 on the outside looking in.

So do you honestly think the fact Ohio State is ineligible

Nov 19, 2012, 6:57 PM

for postseason has no bearing on this?

Let's be realistic. If an Urban Meyer coached team was undefeated and people were actually paying attention, then they would be set to play in the title game. I think that's realistic - you don't? Honestly?

the Atlantic and joining the Coastal.

I hear they hand out championships like EBT cards over there.

EBT cards. LOL!***

Re: Three reasons why leaving the ACC now is a bad idea

Nov 19, 2012, 12:58 PM

I guess your reasoning is probably right... playing them once every 4 years will be a great help.

This is the worst argument for not leaving the ACC I have ever seen. You just used 5 other teams that are in the ACC to say that they are the reason we should stay when actually they are the reason we should leave. The best team out of that bunch is barely bowl eligible.

Nov 19, 2012, 1:02 PM

Seriously the only team of that group that should be top 25 most years is va tech. Those other teams need to worry about being .500 most years.

ND #1, FSU #10, Clemson #11 even though

Nov 19, 2012, 7:11 PM

FSU is #5 and #6 in polls and
Clemson is #9 in polls.
Both are 1 loss teams with 2 loss teams in front of them... and if both teams finish with 1 loss, the reward for Clemson is likely a date with the 5th place team from the SEC.

That is why we don't stay.

of the bcs formula before i go to work in the morning. that computer program, if it really is a program, was flawed before it was ever entered into the computer.
