Love what drod did for our country...

May 9, 2015, 6:06 PM

But is he really talented enough for nfl. Hate to say it's tuff to see. Hope they aren't goin for a publicity stunt like Clemson did. We honored his dream to get dumped on in the end.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Dumped on? He realized his dream, plus a lot more

May 9, 2015, 6:18 PM

"It was kind of unfortunate; I wanted to get more playing time at Clemson. I felt that I was good enough to play," Rodriguez said. "But I wasn't on scholarship; the reality is they're going to play the people they're invested in. In the NFL, they're going to play the best. It's not as political as it is in college."

He really is a great player. Unfortunately he's very small (only 5'8) but there is no doubt his heart makes up for it.

My definition of great is a man who served our country, saw many people die including his best friend, was lost after coming home, remembered a promise, and played football at the best university in the country

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Based on what? Darren Sproles is a great player.

May 9, 2015, 7:17 PM [ in reply to Re: Love what drod did for our country... ]

Trindon Holliday is a great player. Wes Welker is a great player. MJD was a great player. Jacquizz Rodgers and Dri Archer were both great college players that have a shot to do something in the NFL.

Daniel Rodriguez is just short. If he was a great player he would've seen the field in college.

Um....no he's not. Great players play regardless of size. I love DRod but saying he is a great player is stupid.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'd take a chance

May 10, 2015, 8:19 AM

I would sign a man that served our country. Not much he can't do after those experiences.

My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament.

No doubt. Emmit Smith, Barry and Ace Sanders, some guy here named Ellington, Tyrann Mathieu, etc. have played a lot, and none are giants.

Anyway, I think think that one little quote is being over-emphasized, and I don't understand why. He didn't act like the school robbed him- he just misinterpreted/slanted why he didn't play much. People do that all the time; it doesn't feel good to say, "Well, I didn't get the gig because I'm kind of mediocre." No biggie.

One little bit of self-amelioration after working his butt off to do his best isn't even a molehill, so good luck making it into a mountain.

Ace Sanders????????? LMAO

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Almost anyone draft eligible gets a camp invite.

May 9, 2015, 7:10 PM

They'll work out for rookie camp, then get cut when it's really go time. Like Mark Sanchez said about Tebow, they "Just need another camp arm" and in this case some "Camp legs" to run around. It's tough as heck to make an NFL teams 53 man roster and even their practice squad. Just like with Cole. I like him as a person but he isn't anywhere near NFL talent. Even Tajh had a tough time sticking with an NFL team and has his work cut out for him with Pittsburgh. Don't take these signings and invites seriously just yet.

I like the guy and his story but he couldn't get separation on college corners so I doubt he will do much at the next level. A little small with not quite enough speed

Not trying to push buttons drummer. Just saying he didn't even start in college or catch 20 passes. Hard to imagine him making an nfl roster. And his quote about not playing at Clemson annoyed me. We helped him realize his dream of playing in college bc of what he did serving our country.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I kinda get what you're saying, but you said it in a

May 10, 2015, 6:06 PM

backhanded way towards Clemson. To suggest that it was purely a publicity stunt and that somehow Clemson "dumped" on him is a bit of stretch don't you think?

Clemson is rich in military tradition and Dabo may have wanted to help him realize his dream...a win/win for both sides. And Clemson never dumped on him. We tried to give him opportunities to show his talents...even on special teams but he just wasn't quite big enough. Not to mention the fact we had some guys named Sammy Watkins, Martavis Bryant, Mike Williams, and others...all with superior WR talent and speed. Hard to crack a starter spot, or even the two deep with the guys we've had lately...

I'm not selling the kid short on his work ethic and determination...but we all have our physical limits. In my top physical condition, I'd still get murdered on the gridiron...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: I kinda get what you're saying, but you said it in a

May 10, 2015, 8:49 PM

I said, he dumped on us.. We didn't dump on him. We have him his dream and much much more... He dumped on us with his interview about why he didnt play. He's alll heart but no real athletic ability for D1 football.

Think people are misreading my post. I truly honor and respect what he did for our country. But him playing college football was a gift. He wasn't talented enough. He just had heart.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Ah, I see...I didn't agree with what Drod said but that is

May 10, 2015, 11:17 PM

his belief. He has a chance to prove everyone wrong if he can make the team and earn a spot on the roster. The ball is in his court to back up his statements...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

...and if he does do all of that, OP will figure out a way

May 11, 2015, 6:21 AM

to downplay it.

DRod can't win in his eyes. Bottomline, DRod said something that offended him and he ain't forgetting it.

I'm sure OP's record is clean too.

May 10, 2015, 2:02 PM

Back to FGF, bud. Your team/school will get "good" publicity when they do something goid, or win at a high level. Both, i know, have been few and far between for usc jr, but just hang tight. Future's bright over there, right? Or at least that's been the word on the coot camp for the last 5 years (with the exception of the last 3-5 months). Keep your chin up. Go five bomb somebody or something - bring back the good ole days. May help ya feel a lil better ;)

Well maybe not, since the past is irrelevant in sports and only the present should be regarded as worthy of mention.
