The reason I want to leave the ACC doesn't have anything to

do with Swofford or UNC, etc. although Swofford could be the contributing factor. The difference in money between conferences means that in the 9-year span it takes our new ACC TV deal to reach 17 million (13 mil this year with a $500,000 increase yearly) other schools-including our rivals could've possibly earned more than 20-30 million more than us just on TV revenue alone. That puts us at a huge disadvantage, IMO. Also, leaving now would give us the ability to negotiate our own 3rd tier rights with a channel like CSS or Sports South which could generate us a few extra million per year from the start. Think about it. Right now, in the Atlantic/mid-Atlantic there isn't another school that is negotitating their own 3rd tier rights and we could get exclusivity on said channels. Obviously if FSU left they could do the same with SUN network and other TV people in Florida.
I appreciate everyhting we accomplished in the ACC and the memories I have, but college sports--especially football--is a business now and the ones with the higher profit margin can invest more in their business to make it better. TO me, that is what we need to do, and without major addition to the ACC that can adjust the TV figures, we have to leave for greener pastures in order to build a better business.
This said, I hope York, The Dude, et al are accurate in their assessments and aren't pulling our proverbial championship out from under us with the expansion talk.

the wrong way. And by we, I mean all the conferences.
If you think about the NFL and their contracts with networks it's for the entire league, not the individual conferences. Obviously the AFC and the NFC work out their deals in some fashion with the networks, but I think the "Power 64" will eventually pull away and negotiate as one.
Collectively there may be more money for a large group of teams vs. trying to split the pie for each conference.
I was just trying to look at it compared to how the NFL does things. Who knows at this point!

is because the ACC is sinking ship and a basketball conference. If swoffie would have went after WVU/ Pitt or WVU/ Louiville I doubt most would want clemson to leave ACC. But since if obvious that swoffie only cares about the tobacco road schools I believe we need to leave.
If Clemson and FSU stay in the ACC both our Football programs will suffer.

Alas, the ACC does not release such numbers, but conference sources expect this year’s per-school share to reach $16 million, an estimate Spetman confirmed Friday to Florida State’s trustees. The ACC’s revenue represents a nearly 25-percent bump from 2010-11, when the federal tax return I obtained through an open records request showed per-school distributions that averaged $12.28 million
